Is $599.00 for a 35 Summicron M mount a good deal? It is in super shape with a hood. The lens is made in Germany not Canada & is from 1969. Ser # 2330----. I would like to pick this up & have no idea. Please let me know what you think. Thanks

Not necessarily. Does the glass have any issues like fungus, or scratches that can't easily be cleaned by a technician?

What about mechanical issues?

Serial #2330xxx is on the borderline between v1 and v2, isn't it? For a v1 'cron, that's a super deal; for a v2, it's merely a good deal.

I agree. But for that price, I would get it first and I.D. the version later. That's assuming it is in good condition optically: no fog, haze, fungus; and no oil on the diaphragm.

Grab it quick. Second hand leica glass is getting hard to find here. I thing M9 owners are grabbing the stock quickly. Plus I overheard new leica shipments shipments from Leica were disturbed due the Volcanic Ash problems. There's a shortage of leica here downunder.

Check the lens for fungus or any other optical defects. Else, buy the lens immediately.
