which 28mm lens?

Frank, I know of a shop in Tokyo that still has new silver CV 28/3.5s in stock. Their price is about 25,000 yen from memory. Can help you source one if your interested.

More than decent. My first test shots looked amazingly sharp. Lens is really tough. And its size is a dream. Both on sunny days and overcast, with ISO 100 and 400, I'm using it prefocused at 3 meters at f/11 - f/8 and 1/250. My R4M is the funniest/best point-and-shoot I've tried... If the lens was you know which brand it would be $1300 used and a legend...

Cheers,

Juan

I called the shop and they have one new silver CV 28/3.5 left @ 28,000 yen. If Frank doesn't want it, I might buy it myself :D

I picked up a chrome Canon/Serenar 28/3.5 with the Canon VF and Lieca M-mount adapter for $419.00. I love the size and build.

Do you miss you old Canon?

Cal

Oh yes, I miss my old Canon.

I have been looking for 2 lenses this last while: a 28mm for rangefinders and a 20/21mm for slr. Yesterday I put in a "best offer" on a Nikkor 20mm lens and it was (unexpectantly) accepted. I'm happy to find one of the lenses I was looking for, but now I need to regroup and rebuild my funds, looking at other unwanted gear to sell off. Thanks very much for everyones help!

Isn't that a weird thing? You make an offer with the vague hope that it gets accepted, but at the same time hoping it wont... And it gets a nod! :)

It happened to me when I purchased my Canon 50mm f1.2. I made a "Best offer" thinking it would be turned down, but, to my surprise, the seller accepted it.

That was fun! :) Glad it worked for you too, Frank! Good luck picking out items to sell... I don't think I could do it.

I'm a big fan of the 28 fl. I think most posters have already hit on all the key lenses. I have the Hex, the 28/1.9, the skopar 28/3.5, and the Canon 28/2.8. I haven't shopped for lenses recently, but IIRC, for your price range, you're probably looking at the Skopar 28/3.5. If you can still get the Rokkor, you should grab that. :)

edit: oops, don't have the canon 28/3.5 (have the 35/2.8!!)

I went looking for a rangefinder 28 mm to go ride along shot gun with my much beloved Nikkor 28 1.4 AF-D for my Nikon system. I settled on the Voigtlander 28 1.9 ASPH and so far have no complaints. In fact I really like it and have made some decent images since getting it.
Some folks complain about the size (specifically the hood) obstructing part of the viewfinder but for me it's not really an issue.
Especially since I just snagged a polarizer for it on friday and now the hood dosnt fit anymore.

I still dream of getting a Lecia 28 2.0 ASPH someday, but thats what living is for, to make your dreams come true... someday. And to me using the Voit 28 1.9 Is more than adequate for the likes of me.

All taken with 28 1.9 Voitglander ASPH on Leica M6/M7 on XP2 and Ektar

Yep Fransisco, that is just the way it went!

Now, if I could just find a home for my 55mmf1.2 Nikkor S, it would get me started on the 28mm lens fund.

For 28mm, I end up with the SLR's. 28/1.8 for the Konica and a 28/2 for the Nikon.

For an RF, I'd like a bad-glass Orion to mount a 28/3.5 from a Nikon Lite-Touch.
