Should I get an M6?

Buy film, a new lens, or an M3 instead. Or your wife a fancy dinner or week-end.

Or buy the M6 and sell the M7. And make the dinner even fancier :)

Actually, I will probably let the M7 go. buyer lined up. But I really like that Brazil idea.

Even a M7 owner could line in a M6 pretty good.
I use a 0.85 M7 and preferably use it with 50 and 90mm.

My classic M6 has the standard 0.72 finder and mostly a 28mm attached.
With the wide, I need a less quick meter and shutter speed, than with the longer fast lenses, which suits well with the M6 being fully mechanical.

I really like the much smoother feel of the M6, while the M7 is a nice "techno cam" with AE and AE lock (I might add a motor, when I find a nice deal as well).

Why wouldn't someone in Brazil buy online from a seller who ships internationally?

because with a 60% import tax it is not such a great deal:
$1500+750=$2250, which is already R$4500.

import taxes here are really hard to swallow... there is a shop here that sells used M8s (not M8.2) for R$7000, which would be around $3500. and people actually buy it. it puzzles me, it's actually cheaper to fly to the US and buy one!

I second roland's suggestion. Use that money for some CLA for your cameras and lens instead.

I never realized that M7 is geared towards 50mm. My favorite focal length is 35mm or wider. So that rules out M7 and M3 both.

In Akiva's place, I'd sell the M7 and get the M6 *and* a trip :)

First off let me say a 35mm lens works fine on an M7, shadowfox. But the 7 is just too delicate for me. to be continued...

The 0.85 viewfinder M7 (or M6 for that matter) is more comfortable, to use with 50mm and longer.

I can use a 35mm lens also, but wearers of glasses do get into trouble seeing the frame.

As has been said, the M7 is also available in 0.72 (comfortable - if not perfect - for 35mm ) and the 0.58 viewfinder for wider lenses.

Why is the M7 too delicate?
I really like the M7, it is just, that the M6 classic "feels" smoother (shutter, rewind, silver chrome vs my black chrome M7…).

I have never had one. Already own a bunch of M mount lenses. It would be way below normal value and it is in tip top shape, but .....$800 is $800. ;)

You have an M7. Why tie up $800? Sure you could resell but whats your time worth standing in the post office to re-ship it? And what if the guy is a smuck and rips you off on the resale as we've seen here many a time.

So far I really like my M6. My one criticism is the size and placement of the shutter speed nob.

I've never regretted buying my M6. I feel it's a very under rated camera, and much better than many of the comments on the intraweb would have you believe!

Well I got the M6 and so far the way it works for me could not be better. I mated it with a CV 35/1.7 which for me has great ergonomics. No tabs, knobs and just the right size. Back to the M6. It is so quiet and so unassuming. I like it better than M7 and ZI because for me AE always gets in the way. I like it better than the Bessa R3M because it is quieter and more refined. Got a great deal and even though I am late to the M6 "game"....well better late than never.

Tallies a lot with my M6 experience.
