Is it just my impression or have very few people actually bought M9s. All the chat in this section seems to be about M8s with only an occasional M9 image or thread.

I have had my M9 since October but I am new (last week) to this forum. In fact, this is my first post on here. Anyway, the M9 was my entry into the Leica World and I had to trade off a lot of Nikon gear to get here. I did a lot of thinking about the lenses I wanted to start out with. I was already comfortable with "full frame" and film so I got a 28 Elmarit ASPH, 50 Lux ASPH and 90 Cron pre-APO. I later added a 35 Lux pre-ASPH because I wanted an older lens with the "Leica Look" and also came across a New in Box Chrome M6 TTL. I am thinking of trading the 90 in and getting a 75 Cron or Lux and would like to find a chrome 50 Cron Rigid to go with the M6. Yes, I know all my lenses will work on the M6...

The rangefinder has taken a bit of a learning curve but I am starting to be comfortable with it. I do really like the small size of the system and how easy it is to carry around. Hopefully your post will bring out more M9 owners...

I am an M9 user. Only the last two weeks though. Like 3rdtrick, it is my first Leica and rangefinder. I am really enjoying getting to know the camera. It is shocking how good the images are - even my shots look good!

I pass by RFF daily. Sometimes several times a day. Also LUF and GetDPi. and Steve Huff's site. I am still in lens lust mode!

Cheers

Helen

They're out working of their debts! :D

Haha! Ain't that the truth! I was playing with the M9 earlier today and I have to say, if I was a weaker man, I would have plunked down the $6995 via my credit card on the spot! It is a sweet camera, so much more quite than my M8! HD video would be a nice feature but that's a topic for another day...:D

I managed to resist on Wednesday! I did a flight into Geneva and they had one in the camera shop in the terminal. 7550 CHF. Still €5500 so no saving. I'll wait until I get a chance to have a go with one.
It was difficult to resist though!!!!

One of my friends bought an M9, sold off his M8. He loves it. He and his M8 "have been through the war" together.

And he is going back, with his M9.

LUF seems to have the biggest congregation of M9 owners. Definitely there are less M9's having been sold (meaning, delivered to the hands of owners) so far than M8's. The M8 was a stretch, economically, in it's day, and the economy has gotten worse since then while the price of an M9 is $2000 higher. Plus there's so much already searchable on the M8 there's less to discuss, while the M9 is a new commodity. Give it time.
