watch out - another fraud ...

Ordinary people, often simply can't understand, that there exist actually people, who live and work long term in another country, than there home country.

Well ... I am an ordinary German person who lives and works for more than 7 years (long term) in another country and has an ordinary bank account and credit card issued from a bank in that country. Where is the problem ? :)

Paypal helps even outside of ebay (might take some time). I am glad to hear that you are getting reimbursed. I also try to use my CC instead of checking a/c, that way you can file with your CC company too.

I have to disagree what other posters said about new forum members. I am relatively new and I bought a M4 and a 50 sumicron since I joined, both transactions went smoothly. If the new members get blocked from forums, where do they go to buy and sell? I recently got interested in RFs and was directed to this forum by a fellow DPR member, and since I have discovered this I am lurking at DPR less and less. I might be new to RF photography, but I am not new to photography.

So I discourage the idea that new members shouldn't be allowed to buy and sell. I have seen some ads here that specifically mention not to respond if you joined the forum within last 6 months, which I think is not appropriate but who am I to complain...I just stay away from those ads. I am thankful to those 2 guys who sold me their items and I am thankful to this forum where I am learning a lot.

Cheers,
Dan.

Yes - shipping across the world can take a lot of time. My experience with DHL with shipping overseas is between 3 - 8 weeks. Right now one of the packages I have shipped to Hong Kong did not arrive yet (4 weeks) ...

Well, there is quite a significant difference in handling bank accounts and money transfers between China mainland and other countries :)

It won't happen soon, that I deposit my money on a bank in China mainland if in fact, I am interested in getting in out of the country someday.

I didn't deal with Japanese money affairs, but suppose it might not be much different from other liberal Democracies with free market regulations.

In any case, my post was aimed at the obvious automatic implementation of a possible fraudulent transaction, if a seller acts from another place on earth, than his home country. It is enough nowadays, to log into a payment system/ online trading system with a foreign IP address from your actual account, to have it locked automatically (ebay and paypal are veeery sensitive to this).

More so, is the automatic suspicion from "the ordinary people", I referred to quite tiring. We are just people away from home, that's all.

Maddoc...

Hey guys,

I think I am also meet a fraud today....

Today I have create a new adv in WTB area. Looking for a Rolleiflex 2.8F. And one hour ago,a totally new member leave a private message to me. (He create this new ID just in this month....) He said he have Rolleiflex 2.8F for sale. Actually, not only Rolleiflex he also have Leica MP, Mamiya 7II and Leica M7 for sale... Expensive stuffs.... He can also provide some pictures of his gears. (I think this is very easy since you can also find many pictures on the Internet.) But he will not give any description of his cameras. I have to send several emails to ask the questions. After I asked him to send more pictures, his reply was totally doesn't make sense to me....

Here is part of his reply I copy from the email:

I live in Spain but now I'm working in Poland till the end of the Summer. I'm sorry if I didn't get all the inforrmation but as I said I'm new to this kind of things. I was encouraged from one friend that buys and sells many items online.

My wife has all my film stuff and she'll handle the packages. Only needs to call UPS to get them shipped.

Guys,do you think this is possible? Actually I haven't heard that someone will sale his cameras even worth thousands of dollars but himself is outside his home...

And in the first message he said "I have to be honest. I never sold anything on internet before. I'm trying to sell some of my equipment as these days are not being easy and I need funds for my expenses."

Honestly,I always met this kind of things when I create a WTB adv in RFF forum....

RFF forum is too famous now....

The only thing this guy hasn't said is that his son has recently been kidnapped by an extremist group in Syria, and is being held for ransom, and that his wife is the daughter of a deceased Nigerian King. He's scamming you, sir.

Hahahaha. Exactly! Thanks for your notice. I directly refused his offer.

But the weird thing was a member in RFF form(created in 2010,only have 3 posts) said that he was the friend who introduce that guy to sale the gear in this forum......
