Which one is better, the full frame version A:

Or the cropped version B:

Or neither...
TIA,
Dmitry
PS: Sorry of this is a wring place to post this...

I prefer the cropped shot (B) because it concentrates more on what's relevant.

Actually, I could imagine an even tighter crop in landscape orientation: Just concentrate on the two people. The chandelier up on the top isn't relevant, because it isn't the target of the peoples' glances, and the target is out of the frame anyway.

I prefer A, seems more balanced, and the lady is looking at the same thing as the man.
B provides a terrific frame for the gent, but I think A tells a better story.
Shame about the light burst just above the binoculars, i find that distracting.

Great shot though, with more of mines were like this!

best,
Alex

I agree, the cropped photo (B) seems too constricted. The like the full frame photo. :) The negative space next to the column is nice, something is just missing with the cropped shot.

Since the subject is very much his act of looking up, searching the heavens, the higher the picture goes, the better. Also, the detail and light up there is beautiful. The usual compositional rules, which would have him take up most of the vertical space, distinctly doesn't apply here. Indeed rules wouldn't be rules, they'd only be facts, if we didn't need to defy them from time to time.

For me, A gives a better context for the image.

Exactly...Plus you get to keep those great details in the arches. Excellent photo.
