i have a nice little gitzo table top with a fantastic leica ball head....

that is it...have not used it for many moons now...

I have a Heavy Manfrotto tripod, a Lightweight Zone VI Wooden tripod, a "Fancier" smaller Manfrotto knockoff, Manfrotto monopod, Leitz Tiltall knockoff, Foba C40 for my 8x10 Sinar Norma, and a smaller "tabletop" Foba, which is infinitely extendable, using Foba Combitubes. And I have a Plaubel Camera Stand in my studio, that could easily support the front end of any of my cars :D

Pretty sure I'm at seven too...it's kind of embarrassing not knowing the exact number...
Hey, Maybe I don't want to know...

The only time you really need to know the numbers is when you need to tell your "sherpa" or other type of Gofer... Hey Boy, bring me my Bogen 3XXX with the Gitso 3XXX Circumnavigating Floating Head.

I have 5 tripods and a Monopod. The heaviest tripod I own is a Bogen (Manfrotto) 3035 with a Bogen 3055 ball head. It only weighs about 13 pounds, but I hang a bag of lead weights from the center post (about 25 pounds) from the center column to really stabilize.

I use my other tripods for my DSLR's but I use this Bogen when I go out with my Oly FE4000 digital P&S. It's the only combo that really stabilizes these little toy cameras. I also use it at my eBay photo station, where I also use the toy Oly.

I am a staunch tripod/monopod advocate, but I won't bother with such stabilization on my Holga, Pinhole or Polaroid SX70 film manipulation cameras.

Good thread.

Like a few others, answered "2-3", but I do have a monopod too. and some tiny little table toppers that won't actually support any of my cameras that I use for flashes and such. My tripods are small, medium, and large. A little Slik Sprint Mini , my trusty 3021 bogen, and a big wonderful Ries backpacker model.

Zero.

I bought a nice Manfrotto ball head and some legs for my DSLR, but they were stolen in Barcelona less than a week after I bought them. It was a sad day... I got rid of my DSLR stuff shortly after so I never needed to buy another tripod.

I only have one tripod. A Slik 340DX. Great tripod, and great price too. It's sturdier and smoother than my uncle's Manfrotto which cost about the same. Plus, it came with a free carrying bag, so I can haul it around whe I'm shooting on the street. It's made of aluminum, magnesium and titanium, so it's pretty light.

I use tripods all the time with my medium format cameras and particularly with pinhole cameras (one Mississippi, two Mississippi...). I own just two tripods, one light Manfrotto and a Velbon Sherpa that can take up to 2kg of weight. One or two table tripods. I need one tripod more for a LF camera.

Dunno. Betweeen us, my wife and I have lots. I'll see if I can list 'em in descending order of size: Linhof, a French one whose name I can't remember, Gandolfi, MPP, a couple of Benbos, Manfrotto, Gitzo, two Redgeds, Slik, Velbon, several tabletops, half a dozen monopods, and an IFF studio stand. I think that's most of the decent ones. We've also got a few 'wobble-pods' (ultra-light 7-section tripods), old folders and the like. Some we were given (remember, Frances covers tripods for Shutterbug) but most, we bought. They mostly have different applications but let's face it, a second-hand tripod ain't worth much unless it's REALLY impressive, so they're not worth the hassle of selling. A bit like camera bags, really. Every now and then we give one away.

Cheers,

R.

Three.

One supports up to 16 pounds, so it's the one I use for LF, MF, and 35mm/digital when carrying it is no problem because of size... (It's a really steady but light Slik one, though...)
A medium sized one (one feet long when carried): that's not for LF/MF use, but very portable...
A mini one I can carry inside any pocket, basically for unplanned table use...

Cheers,

Juan

Mostly used: Manfrotto 190B with 488RC2 head.

Has a heavy Manfrotto 055 with 168 ball head, 1 monopod and 2 mini tripods.

A few...

Calumet 5-section monopod with Manfrotto ball head with QR plate.
Tiny travel tripod with the twisty-locky silvery legs (horrible, but usable in a pinch).
Hama Traveller Compact Pro - medium size lightweight jobbie that lives in the car.
Manfrotto 055PROB with leveller thingy and 410 geared head - mostly used for medium format.
Old Leica surveyors tripod with a home-brew adapter plate for a standard 3/8" screw. Used for MPP monorail, but still trying to work out a suitable head for it (usable with the leveller on the Manfrotto, but the MPP is a bit heavy (5kg) for the 410 head).

Using a tripod with rangefinders is exceedingly rare for me, but the idea with the recently-acquired Hama is that it will give me the option should the need arise.

mnn ...a telling question. ummn 14, but one is broken and two are monopods, so that makes 11 OK

I once left a very nice Slik Master Pro II by a river and had to do a 140km round trip before before my plane left the state.....

Four.

Two identical Velbon Sherpas (one in UK and one in Kabul) and two Berlebach wooden tripods, one of which I will sell (the one I used for 10x8 as I no longer own this format).

So really, its two. The two Velbons are to prevent using my baggage allowance up every time I move to and fro.

I have a nice, sturdy Bogen. I keep it to be politically correct. It is never used. I use the photojournalistic, stealth, decisive moment method — even for landscapes.

Dear Dick,

Not much use with a 12x15 inch Gandolfi...

Or in the studio, for that matter. I'm just about to go and put a DSLR on my IFF studio stand.

Cheers,

R.
