Whats happening with the 2011 FSU contest, has everyone voted yet? If you have not voted remember to vote.

Been there, done that. It seems that only 6 or 7 people have voted!? Even lower than the number of participants in the contest...
Please vote, all of you nice people here at the Forum

Yep, vote now or never. It's been a bit of a disapointing experience all round ;-( Did I miss when Stephen was going to close off votes?

Don`t think so, it was still fun and something not to take too seriously. Good template for any future attempts? Thanx for organizing kapa. It just kinda lost traction with the change to format i think. no big deal.

I liked the basic idea of having multiple categories - gives people a chance to either do stuff they're familiar with, and/or try subject matter they're not used to. I would limit to one entry per category, though - having too much stuff to vote for can mean that the available votes are spread rather thinly. That said, I think spliiting the single gallery into three after the fact was maybe the bigger factor in voting going somewhat awry. With hindsight, it would clearly be better to create the required galleries first. (I had no issue with moving my stuff, but others did.)
For the next one, I would do the following...
Three categories, possibly chosen by poll from a selection of 4 or 5.
Dedicated galleries created from the start.
One entry per person per category.
Define the rules up-front.
Set clear start and end dates for both entries and voting.
Voting open to all RFF members.

I think all those points were covered. I gave plenty of time for options on start/finish dates, themes including a poll. Where it came unstuck was with admin. Vague communication or no reply, & then "no, software doesnt allow that"... Another example- votes still open & no communication as to when it will close!!! :bang:

What I don't recall seeing was a single post like the first one in this thread...

It helps a lot to have a separate announcement that encapsulates the required info without having to trawl through one or more threads to find out what is going on.
The software issue is a lesson learned. If it restricted how things might otherwise have been done, then we try to work around that next time.
As for voting still being open, it isn't admin's competition, it's ours. It's up to us to communicate with admin and ask that the voting be closed.

So it didn't start until the 2nd of June? I was under the distinct impression that it started on the 15th of May.

Thank you Kapa for organising the contest. It was fun to get away from the DSLR's and use film again. I will be using film on a regular basis again.

I enjoyed taking part in it even though very few voters. It prompted me to buy two Kievs, a Zorki, two Fed 4s, a jupiter 85mm f2 in Kiev mount and another in Leica screw mount, a jupiter-11 135mm f4 and a jupiter-12 35mm f2.8 in Kiev mount, a Leningrad exposure meter, and a rather nice turret finder (for 2.8cm, 3.5cm, 5cm, 8.5cm and 13.5cm lenses).
I'll look out for the next competition!
All the best, John
