Back to the TLR

Mine just had a Maxwell screen installed and a CLA and what a difference. 'flex is heading to Switzerland with me on Sunday. Landscapes in square, love it.

basic guide to TLRs

There are so many models, I am totally confused about these cameras. Maybe I will find some time to get a little research in over the next few months...or winter.

If you're starting from scratch, one place to begin is the 5-part Massive Guide to TLR Cameras that was reproduced in translation a few years ago on holgablog, but long since taken down. Fortunately, some thoughtful soul has archived all 5 parts, indexed here: http://www.goatkarma.com/articles/

A useful survey -- miles wide, inches deep -- but it gets the main points down. Those who wish to plumb the finer points of different Rolleiflex models or argue Autocord vs. whatever will not find much here. Still, a fun read.

I have a few TLR's I will be listing in classifieds shortly. Mainly, Ciro-Flex with original hood and Rolleiflex Automat with Tessar. I might consider selling Autocord as well. Let me know, if interested, I will list them sooner.

Hi, Jonathan...

No decision about buying one yet because I simply cannot afford to buy anything at the moment. Will I? Certainly planning on it down the road.

I just graduated from college, and I have little money myself. I did some research, and I ended up thinking that I will set a budget, find the nicest sample within that figure, and take her home :D
No need to worry about which specific model, they are all beautiful and they all work great I believe. What was on paper 5 decades ago may not be the same as the actual condition today, so I just pick the freshest one within my budget.

Just my $0.02, mate. :)

I will second Johan's suggestion about Ciro-Flex. Picked one up and was blown away. Sorry about the thumbnail, but I can't upload to Gallery today anymore.

Camera's that take shots like that will make somebody happy soon, I'm confident!

:D:D:D;)

It was taken in my back yard last year. My daughter, Veronica, was about 2 1/2 years old. She was picking wild strawberries. She never lets them turn red. ;)
