New Fujifilm Interchangeable 'X' Camera CES 2012

The first leaks about this inspired me to hold off on a m4/3 or NEX7 purchase... which I'm sure is exactly Fuji's reason for leaking.

The new camera is likely to be a full 24X36 frame. Let's dub the product "The Xpro 36". Offering 36MP without altering the X pro 1 pixel pitch.

The resultant chassis will require much larger energy storage and CPU capacities (The X Pro 1 already a wattage challenge).

FUJIFILM isn't fooling around here. Digital imaging leadership (Where Panasonic has excelled with MFT) is their only avenue to sustained prosperity with film (regrettably) on the wane.

A whole new set of Fuji AF FF lenses and filters becon...not to mention the new printing opportunities. Of course the M lens hoarders will be delighted.

After carefully examining the planned INITIAL X Pro 1's under performance "upgraded" via ver. #2 firmware release today, we can easily observe FUJIFILM's strategy unfolding. Release then "upgrade" that which was good in the first instance.

The lasting result is enhanced customer credibility and faith––a precious commodity these days.

Look at the new lenses (e.g., 14 f/2.8). The MTF's are stunningly good.

So much so that we might see the Kings of Lens design no longer reside in Solms. The idea that a rear element architecture positioned close to the sensor can sharply reduce vignetting is compelling––especially in wide angle lenses.

Moreover, with patented FUJIFILM demosaic detector science eliminating Bayer AA filters and their quirky magenta stains, CA and high contrast edge colorations, we may be seeing the end of an era for the camera companies who haven't properly tended their intellectual property. The Bayer algorithm appears effectively obsolete with the release of the X Pro 1.

Recall that of the ten leading vacuum tube makers NONE participated in the transistor revolution (Chet Rayhmo–the "R" in TRW). Nikon, CANON should be concerned.

That was my initial thought.. it's like a story!

Everyone gather 'round the fire and let Fuji re-write photography.. that's what i'm led to believe.

Google translator failed fuji in this case.

Due to recession, even shill jobs are outsourced...

Sector99 sez:

"FUJIFILM isn't fooling around here."

I don't doubt it for a minute. They make great cameras for taking beautiful pictures of things that don't move.

"Look at the new lenses (e.g., 14 f/2.8). The MTF's are stunningly good."

Except in the corners at wide apertures where they are stunningly average.

"So much so that we might see the Kings of Lens design no longer reside in Solms."

I'm sure they're shaking in their boots.

"The Bayer algorithm appears effectively obsolete with the release of the X Pro 1."

Yeah, too bad about the color smearing and poor RAW conversion options.

"Recall that of the ten leading vacuum tube makers NONE participated in the transistor revolution."

Please note that tubes have basically re-taken high-end audio.

"Nikon, CANON should be concerned."

I'm sure they are - but for reasons other than your breathless assessment of Fuji's genius.

Sorry, but, what are you smoking?!

First off this thread is nearly a year old, and was written about the X-Pro1 before it was announced. Second, why would Fuji decide to switch to a full-frame system when they've just rattled off two more APS-C lenses, and have more in the works? It seems like they're pretty committed to the smaller format. Creating a system with a huge sensor in a tiny body is hard too - a bigger sensor will require more energy to operate and put a higher strain on the processor. That's really why the Sigma DP-series didn't do so well, they were great cameras but much too slow. The X-Pro1 is already considered "slow" by many, and putting in a larger sensor would slow it down further.

The upcoming firmware update is to put it at least close to the level of the brand new X-E1, which appears to perform much better than the more expensive X-Pro1.

Since the X-E1 was just announced TODAY...what new camera are you talking about? And where are you pulling this stuff out of

Oh jeeze...you guys are TOO TOO sharp.

Here I thought I could sneak one by you.

EVERYBODY knows that the X Pro 1 is a TOTAL failure.

Just look at these OBVIOUSLY crummy shots:

<http://forum.getdpi.com/forum/fuji/35546-fun-fuji-x1-pro.html>

Yup...In order to make it "Feel" right the buyer is FORCED to tape on lead weights––What a mistake. Rockwell MUST be smoking CRACK.

As for that new CES camera?

It'll be there right next to the FF SONY Nex7 and will OBVIOUSLY be eclipsed by the new Leica M9a ...the one with bullet-fast autofocus AND GPS.

I have PERSONALLY spoken with HER Doctor Progfessor Helmut Manfred Zeigflier III in Solms and he too was doubled over writhing with laughter at the OBVIOUSLY fake FUJI MTFs for the 14 f/2.8 (Just released today). Helmut actually thought Fuji made Gelatto.

BTW..Helmut slipped me a REALLY cool leak he JUST got from taping the Carl Zeiss (AKA Porsche) Design Group's tele:

The new 2013 ZM (IKON) lens will replace Zeiss's current 28 f/2.8 with (Or so Zeiss is planning) A SUMMICRON 28/F2 ASPH KILLER. Half the weight, MTF's like the 21 SUPER Elmer F.3.4 and it's only F/2!!!

You should have heard Helmut ...he was SCREAMING with laughter. His slender Fraulein secretary––with to die for blue eyes (I think her name was Gretchen) had to restrain the elderly Professor. She had to administer a Nitro Glycerin tablet.

Gotta run guys!

BTW Why do Italians ALWAYS have "Jessie's Girl?

Maybe if I had a BIGGER TELEPHOTO LENS...

I never understood the point of non-sensical spam. If the goal is to change someone's opinion, get them to buy something, etc, how does it help if the writing seems to come from someone on a bad acid trip.
