Hello,
What is the "M" camera (or any rangefinder of this kind) to give you best view with 50mm lens?
While I love the viewfinder look of my M6 with 35mm lens, the picture I get with 50mm is not to my liking: small window with large area around it.
Which camera has a better field of view with 50mm than my M6?
Thank you.

Personally I prefer the M5 for 50mm. The 50 lines lie all alone in a flare free environment ;) There is a small circular indicator for the "spot" meter. It's the perfect 50 set up especially if you use a Hex limited or noctilux.

With the M3, you get the same feeling with a 50mm as the M6 with a 35mm.
Additionally the frame line is much better (one frame, thicker and closed frame).

I have tried both.

Best,

Jens

Depends on whether you want space around the frame or not. The .85 M finders work well with just a bit of room around the frame lines. The ZI has a wonderfully bright viewfinder but the 50 frame is a bit small.

M3 without a doubt, although it doesn't play nice with lenses 28mm - 35mm. I adjusted mine to focus down to .7 meters and is perfect. There are slight variations between the M3's, depending on when it was built but my frame lines actually move to correspond with the distance down to .7 meters (my M3 is a very late production, SN# 1155xxx).

I also have an MP (0.72 version) without the 75m frame lines and when used with a 1.25x magnifier is nice too, but not as clear as the M3. If you wear glasses it would probably be a pain though.
