Say goodbye to the $1500 Nikon D600

Mind you ... with a 24-85 image stabilised lens it still comes in at less than the new Sony RX1.
 
I'd take the RX1 over this if I was in the market for a new full frame digital right now. The D600 would look enormous beside the RX1. And the lenses ... apples and oranges.

In reality, my money is saved for a Full Frame interchangeable lens mirrorless camera, whether a Sony NEX-9 or a Fuji equivalent. Perhaps Canon will jump in that party too.

Sounds like a good plan. I was waiting for the $1500 D600. Guess I'll have to wait a couple of years. :eek:
 
$1500 was wishful thinking anyway - full frame is becoming commoditized, and that's a good thing, but not to that extent just yet.

And no, that doesn't mean there will be $2000 full frame digital rangefinders soon, too; economies of scale still apply.
 
With $2100 body you get access to some of the best lenses out there at very low prices. Also you don't have to deal with 75mb files that you get from D800.

The price is set to artificially support Nikon's DX investment. Nikon's weakness is they spend more time looking backwards than forwards.

Luckily my D700s do not limit my ability to license images to clients.
 
This is good, D600 at $2000 fine. You can get a used one in good
time, if not the D700 prices will go down even further now, more
full frame choices.

Yep, I was going to say exactly the same: 2,000 US$ is a good price, and the D700 is likely to go down, not to mention that probably more people will consider getting to FF and also the D300s will go down and the D300s substitute will need to come also at low price. Any of these produce images good enough to be sold and sold well, anything more is just a bonus.

seems to me the actual selling price will be under $2000, and this camera is incredibly compact and eons more versatilie than the upcoming 33% more expensive sony. as for sony's 'zeiss' lens, all i can say is their present lineup of 'zeiss' lenses are a tremendous disappointment. i much rather put my 'real' zeiss on this nikon!

I think the D600 will be a failure (in my eyes) because it will not work with old manual focus lenses (I am guessing here). That would make it cheap if You can decide no to use AF.

I have a D700 and bought 2.8/24, 2.0/35, 1.4/50 and 2.8/55 at 50 to 80 Euros each.

So, not the entry level FF for someone who is interested in photography.

Yes it does appear to work with non-CPU lenses in aperture priority and manual modes. All of the technical specs are at:

Why would'nt it? The D7000 works with the old manual focus lenses and the older AF lenses without motors in them as it has one in the body?
I imagine this D600 will be much the same.
 
Yes it does work with the old lenses, on a Youtube video it showed it
without the lens and you can see the lens index tab on the bayonet.
