No. Leica themselves admit that even the 135/2.8 is marginal for coupling, with goggles. A 135/2 would be mechanically infeasible.

I think a fast wide, or medium focal length is most likely. Sales on long lenses are likely to be much lower than for the 25-50mm range. Considering the eye watering prices of new Leica designs, they will hit a home run if it is a good lens and considerably cheaper. I also hope they have fixed the wobbles issues and that it is a thing of the past for all newly manufactured lenses.

The weakest zm lens in terms of MTF is the 28 f/2.8.
It's also the strongest MTF player of the fast LEICA wide products (Summicron M 28 f/2 ASPH)
Mirrorless cameras utilizing the new ZM 28 would see a "Normal" field of view (56mm)––thus expanding the new product's use scope.
The zm 28 f/2 would also use the full viewfinder of the Zeiss Ikon
Finally CZ has allowed LEICA to play its cards with the $7,000 plus Summicron M 50/2 ASPH to feed the STEUBEN GLASS, mantle piece craving Oil Shieks of LEICAMEN.
Thus a 25 f/2 to 28 f/2 (As brought up above) is the likely target for a fast new ZM lens. $1,800 MSRP. A close second will be a fast, highly corrected AND compact 35 f/2 (Essentially the existing RX1 optics).
Just a WAG at this point.
PUSH to Manual MIRRORLESS (Hence M-Mount)?
BUT we can see a huge new and permanent investment in mirrorless/m-mount optics to fit the elimination of the SLR mirror. CZ has waited patiently and now has the SONY RX1 to shock the World. Fuji will be next at CES. A Really high end FF mirrorless––as I said earlier.
EVF will be the mirror's demise––if amoled resolution gets higher AND focus confirm becomes truly functional. These guys simply need to electronically duplicate the current range finder "Box-matching)" "focus confirmation".

Clearly I haven't been able to explain my point as I wanted.
I'm NOT expecting ANY 135 on ZM. I just meant that "seen the APO SONNAR (this is the key) just released for ZF, maybe another "APO SONNAR" (not surely the 135 F/2, which is by chance related such name) might be released for ZM", why not a 50 F/1.2 ? This would compete with the newest 50 from Leica which is said to be the best lens on Earth or so for common photography (at least in MTF terms, no idea how such lens really behaves on the field)

It will be a 25/2 (T/2.1), with a relatively telecentric design to perform well on standard digital sensors (NEX-7, X-Pro, etc.). It will weigh 255 g and it will retail for $2199. Its MTF at optimal aperture (f/5.6) will challenge the 24 SE. (*)

It makes sense for Zeiss to address the most popular lens in rangerfinders that they currently don't have - 35/1.4. it also happens to be Leica's most difficult lens to obtain new.

After the demise of the "Sonnar" 85/2 I expect a new 85 mm lens.

As I'm utterly bored by the fast-lens, bokeh tedium, let me be a lone voice wanting a slow, near-perfect 28mm lens. I wouldn't care if it were slower than f4, but I'd expect it to be a top Zeiss performer, probably to be 'C' designated, and to have a properly designed rectangular hood with a lens cap that doesn't pop off.
It won't happen of course.

Off topic, Zeiss could produce a 50mm lens to out perform the v.expensive Leica 50mm f2 ASPH. It would also be less than £1000. Make it a f2.8, (6-7 elements) ha.

I absolutely agree! Make it small and and great optically. Thats what I got into rangerfinders for. The 50mm Heliar showed what great optics can be produced in a compact package at a reasonable cost. I dont want yet another fast 50 which seems to be the most common asked for lens. 50mm lovers have all the lenses they can eat and still ask for more! Something a bit different would be nice. Slower to keep it compact and easier to make a better lens. More C lenses a 28 f3.5 would be nice. However that said just looking the ZM range my bet would be on an 85 f2.8.

That would be something, a Zeiss lens cap that will stay on, one made of metal and other non-plastic materials. For that they should rent a hall at Photokina to hold a big press conference to announce it. That would be a big deal for them.
They brag about their lenses with no plastic parts and then give us plastic caps. I never understood how they don't see that terrible final touch. But, this is all I can say bad about Zeiss. So, they're great.

While there are lots of optically superb lenses around, from CV, Leica and Zeiss (lets face it, the 21-25-28-35 f2.8[ biogons are no slouches), there are few affordable fast primes. CV has nothing between the large 35 1.2 II (which I love) and their f2.5 lenses and no longer makes the 50 1.5 asph. Fast lenses are whats missing from the line up, but I think you have a good chance of being satisfied before I am.
