Yes, the Massive Development Chart app. Wonderful thing it is for those of us who are lazy and/OR suck at math.
Oh, and I just cut the film and sleeved it up. I might amend my method and shoot this at 80 instead. Because I'd like a tiny bit more shadow detail, and since the highlights don't seem to have blocked up at all. Quite the combo this film & developer.
Added pleasure for me in the low tech look of the edge printing. Numbered for half frames, and some minor doubling of some of the numbers. Could be quite beautiful in one of those Blackbird Fly cameras that exposes the whole film.

Ok, here are some scans of Silvermax developed in the dedicated chemistry. I will check out Silvermax and Rodinal next. By the way I also had Tri-X in the tank, and it worked out fine. Grain was less pronounced than with Rodinal and the developer seems to have quite a compensating effect. I increased the contrast a little here and there for the scans below.
This one was overexposed by 1.5-2 stops. I corrected it in the scanning phase.

thanks for the tip on the massive dev app. all the timing and mixing tools are so much easier, etc. than the plain old massive dev charts via the website.

I think this looks exactly like AGFA SCALA, although when I developed it in Rodinal, the grain was not so evident, but I was not agitating much. I still have a couple of rolls left, that I am shooting now...

Yes, I read on a German forum that the Kodak color test chart shot with Scala, APX and Silvermax is looking absolutely identical. I shot a roll today just to check how it would look in Rodinal. I think the new Adox film may be a good substitute for those who liked APX. Personally I do not use ISO 100 that much.

Ok, here is one sample scan with Rodinal 1+50, 12 min, 20 C, 5 initial inversions, 2 inversions each minute. Contrast adjusted version. Even with Rodinal the grain is very tame. In general the negatives scanned very flatly, so there was plenty of room for interpretation, especially in the highlights.

I bought mine from Fotoimpex. Good price and took 3 weeks to get to me here in Nevada. I did not order the developer as this has to work in my present favorites (Caffenol-C, Rodinal, HC110 or D76) for it to interest me.
I'll have to wait to see what Freestyle charges but through Fotoimpex it is more expensive than Arista EDU 100/Fomapan 100 or Arista Premium 400, which are my current go-to emulsions. Efke 25 is still my favorite but once the freezer stock runs out I will be looking for some type of replacement. In hopes that Silvermax might fill the gap I will be trying this at EI50 or even slower, but I doubt it.

Have you tried Pan-F? Not the same as Efke/Adox25, but similar in some ways. There is talk of a slow film from Adox since the 25 was so popular.

Yes. It is a starting point. Partly the negatives came out a bit thin, especially the one against the sun, but the shadows held up surprisingly well. I am curious how this would transfer to paper. Everything has a bit of a low key look. Checking out the higher registers would be interesting also. There was plenty of leeway in the highlights. Next time I would either give the film a tad more light, agitate a bit more or extend the time a bit.
A bit thin, but I believe they are quite printable. As the negatives are quite flat the contrast has to be increased during development or printing. I am not so experienced with printing, but I guess I will check out the one shot against the light, just to see how the shadows are looking on paper.
Have fun! I thought I would just get a few rolls, make some tests and be done, but this combination is looking quite interesting. I am not sure if it is possible to get a high key look out of it, we will see.
