Hey, I just saw this on eBay: Canon Serenar 50/2 collapsible, looks really clean, for $159 (plus shipping from Australia).
http://www.ebay.com/itm/330833043654

This is an amazingly low price for one of the rarer Canon LTM lenses. I already have one, and I'm still considering snapping this one up! Please someone else take it before my resolve weakens....

I have no connection to the item or the seller, of course.

Cheers,
Ari

Interesting - this is the first I've heard of this lens. I saw your thread on it here - do you have any other information about it?

...I was the weak one. ;)

I was watching for a compact, 50mm lens with decent handling. The elmar is nice but I change apertures frequently and it didn't make sense for me.

At this price I couldn't pass up at least trying this one to see if it met my needs. Thats a good excuse to get an Canon LTM lense or two I have at home listed here on the forums soon.

I think the lens was only produced from 1947-1949. Interestingly, the aperture ring only goes to f/11, and turns Nikon-wise, unlike all the other Canon LTM lenses I've ever tried.

Raid, the 50/1.8 is a much better lens. But the 50/2 is interesting -- nice lower contrast look with more gentle colors.
