Efke is dead. Long live Efke! - New ADOX CHS 100 II announced!

That's only code for, "to be priced at double the former price".

I don't think so. The ART series was manufactured by EFKE with all the side effects of this. The professional series is manufactured in Germany to a higher standard. Of course it will be more expensive but you will get more consitent quality. And the QC issues always put me off from EFKE films.

Double the price compared to the previous Efke manufactured version and we are in the Ilford products price range. It's not going to work very well for Adox, I'm afraid.

Thank you to Mirko & Adox. The Silvermax is an exceptional film, with very high quality coating so I expect great things from this next Adox stock.

Fantastic news that there is a new 120 film on the horizon, and a new sheet film!

I don't think so. There'r people who prefer 100 asa films and there's not much choice. Now with adox we have it

Adox is just a brand name owned by Photoimpex ( Fotoimpex ) if they say "made in germany" there is not many choices for the actual manufacturer.
Wild guess : ORWO /FIMOTEC... They have N74=400 asa, UN54= 100 asa, Then DN 21 with polyester base , around 25/50 asa . It is a duplicate film, but with right developer fully usable as camera film. So, another "rebranding"

Sorry, this is bull****.
Adox is cooking their own emulsions and let the coating done by other firms. Assembling in the own house again.

You have seen prices? I couldn't find any price information.

Do you have anything to verify this ?? where is the "factory"?
Cutting the master rolls is no big deal, done in the light tight room, like MACO does, making the emulsion is another effort all together. Giving specs is not cooking the emulsion...

Adox sometimes use the small research film coater that used to live in the Agfa Leverkusen plant. I think some of the Agfa staff also still work on that machine—I think the company is called Invisicoat (they also make the Adox MCC paper to Agfa formula)
It is possible Mirko approached them to make him a classic cubic monodisperse single layer film—possible especially as they will be in sheet size, not sure ORWO do that...
The 'thin' (single) coated films are easier to make (more finicky to use for photographers) so it may well be slightly cheaper than say FP4.

Factory is in Bad Saarow... for the rest better ask Adox.
Would be a more precise info than from me. :)

Rangefinderfreak:

1) It's Inoviscoat. Adox works together with them. Inoviscoat is a small startup company, they specialise in coating of stuff ;) http://www.inoviscoat.de/en/
2) Adox got a small factory in Bad Saarow (as haempe mentioned), as far as I know they cook their own emulsions on machinery which was bought from Agfa.

look at their facebook page, there are plenty of photos from their factory and machinery.

So it's no rebrand ;) Same as Silvermax is no rebrand.

That's a fascinating company, specializing in coating, I wonder if they have to have different tools to mount the substrate to layer on. Or do they just do flexible stuff like plastic.

Of couse I looked at goole. That company specialises on coatings, Polaroid and other plastics being their speciality. That asks the question, the amount Adox is creating business, would not support a company...
