I received a black Leica dot to replace the red dot on my M9. I've read posts online where you simply turn it and it pops off. I've been messing with mine for the last half hour to no avail. It's been heated up by a blow dryer and I can twist and turn it in both directions all day long but the damn thing won't actually come out! I've tried placing tape on the front side in hopes to pull it out, but that doesn't work either.

Suggestions? Can't believe it's this much of a PITA!

Well, just don't use a pin or screwdriver to do it. That'll end up making a mark. Since you've already got it moving back and forth by twisting it, you have to keep doing it. The stuff allowing it to twist is the loosening adhesive. It'll eventually twist off and then you can carefully clean anything left like adhesive. Whenever I do anything small I use 2 sets of my reading glasses to magnify it. You can buy high powered ones from any drug store for about 5 bucks. Good idea for the cleaning part. Good luck, Bob.

Two cocktail sticks. Push the dot by the raised letters left and right and left etc and it will slide off. Or, more destructive, perforate it just above the "c" and pull off.
