There is a DR without goggles for sale. What is a good range of market value for such a lens these days? Does this lens offer anything beyond what the yrigid Cron does, given that the close up goggles are not included?

From what I've read, they're almost identical. if not completely identical. They are both classified "Type 2" Summicrons. The only real advantage is the close focus of the DR with glasses.

Optical cell the same, but may be I'm biased -- I find the built quality of the DR unmatched with any other lens of that period

This is a problem if the DR cannot be used on the M8 or M9. I already have a rigid Summicron.

One of the main advantage of M lenses is the possoble use on digital M bodies. It gave lenses a second life, so to speak. A DR without goggles should be worth less than a Rgid Summicron since the Cron can be used on tne M9. A clean user's Cron may cost $500, so the DR should cost ess than tnat if it is in user condition and without goggles.

Well... technically you can use the DR on the M8/9/MM etc.
You must only use it in the close focus range with the goggles.
BTW, the price for a good user v2 rigid or DR will be much more than $500 recently.

To answer the question, I'd say anything south of say, $100 for a clean example with no fungus or haze or scratches. Yeah, that would be a good price. :)

I was thinking more like $50 or less, but I suppose that rates as a great price (or steal), rather than good price.

Shame the DR doesn't fit the digital Ms.

:)

I once bought a near perfect M4 ('mint' as some might say) with a DR Cron for $1000. Sold the M4 by itself for more. That would be a 'fantastic' price.

Excluding once in a life prices, what are the realistic prices?

$500
$600
$700
$800
$900
