for those waiting for this lens, I've just heard from FujiFilm_UK on twitter that it's not going to be released until autumn this year, I was expecting it a bit sooner than that.

Yeah, I find it strange that they are catering to the zoom folks more these days. I guess zooms sell though.

There's one zoom for 4 primes... soon (assuming no delays) there will be one zoom for 7 primes (the 3 CZ lenses). Hardly a zoom bias!

Not only is the performance of the zoom incredible, it's probably an essential part of a kit to market the X-E1 and the mythical lower end model Fuji is supposed to release in the fall.

As much as I'd like to see some of the lenses in their roadmap released sooner rather than later, I would guess Fuji's marketing people probably would rather promote the lenses along with a camera release, rather than just on their own (like the 14mm).

In any case, I'd hope it could be a smaller lens. The 35 'lux is pretty small. As a new X-Pro 1 owner, I'd love a 23/1.4, but I don't want camera bloat :)

I've heard the same thing for both of them Joe - the 23mm and the pancake are not going to be due (in general) until a lot later this year than people hoped. I think some of the primes may get pushed into early 2014 based on what I've heard from my local; things like the 56mm f1.4 for example.

Cheers,
Dave

Also, quite possibly Fuji doesn't want to cannibalize X100/X100s sales.

Very good point.

I'm willing to wait for the 23 and 56 right now - I think, now that Adobe seems to have gotten their "excrement" together the X-Pro1 will again be my "carry around" digital.

I'll have to wait for the next iteration before I can ditch my Nikon DSLR completely (as long as Fuji masters the AF - continuous and non-continuous with the next version).

Cheers,
Dave
