Show me a nice old car

@Yokosuka_Mike - Given your success in this thread, it's almost a shame that you don't have your own blog, or something to that effect, so that you could share these "nice old car images" with a larger audience. I always enjoy checking out your latest contributions as you spot so many great vehicles there where you are located. Thanks as always for sharing!

Thank you, Guth, very kind of you to post this. By-the-way, I do have a blog: http://yokosukamike.blogspot.com/ it's not very popular I mainly do it for friends and family so they'll know what I'm up to here in Japan. Please feel free to check it out.

All the best,
Mike

P.S. I'm always on the look out for Honda sports cars! :)

I'm amazed at the number and variety of nifty cars passing through your area, and that you are on the spot to capture the photos!
The Dino raises some speculation about the effect on car styling due to the US rule about how high the headlights must be above the ground...

In the case of the Dino 246GT, the headlight height wasn't changed from its predecessor (the Dino 206GT) but it lost the 206 model's beautiful plexiglass headlamp covers, which gave the front end an even sleeker, lower appearance.

There were headlight rules in the UK as well about that time (1968-1972ish) that cause Lancia to redesign the front end/headlights on the Lancia Fulvia Coupe... The front end of those UK models always looks a little ungainly to me.

I appreciate the mention of safety regulations as they have had a considerable impact on automotive design over the years, likely never for the better from a visual standpoint. That is a big part of why I tend to enjoy so many of the images found in this thread.

That's a pretty coupe! Even before I read the note about styling, it immediately reminded me of a couple of Italian coupes made in that era. That front end treatment is immediately reminiscent of the second series FIAT 124 Coupe from about 1970-71.

A sweet car in its day... :) A friend of mine had one of them in deep blue with saddle interior, we drove all over the place in that car. Always a pleasure.

Nissan Figaro...beautiful car...we were in Tokyo in 1992 and I saw several of them, even went in the car dealership and picked up a brochure for one...I think they would have sold well in the States...still a stylish car...

I don't think I've ever seen one of those. Looks very retro-moderne in styling.

Which reminds me, and I will ask for consent to post this. One of my friends has an exceptionally good condition Nissan 300ZX and a few years back I took some shots of it. If he says OK I will post it.
