Description:

I never realized how nice this M2 was until I decided to sell it. Thinking....

No, sorry, it's gotta go. I haven't used it in at least 6 months, and it's too nice to be just mutely staring out from its space on the shelf. According to the serial number, this 1964-era lever-rewind M2 was first sold in 1966. I bought it in about 2014 from a dealer in Canada, who said it was CLA'd before he put it on the market. I've no reason to doubt him; this camera is c-l-e-a-n.

I think the M2 is the perfect Leica, trim, spare, even a little Spartan. This one is a good representation of the breed. I even like the knurled rewind knob, odd as that sounds. All speeds seem good, and the camera was a reliable shooter (until I picked up an M4, it was my main body.) But now the M4 and the ---yeah, I made the leap to digital--Monochrom take up all my camera bag space, and the little M2 has been orphaned.

One caveat: While taking its picture a minute ago, I see that one of the shuttler curtains looks a little bit puffy, as if it was slightly stretched out. I've never seen any ill effects from this in my negs, and it doesn't show up on these photos, either...pretty subtle. I'm assuming it's one of those things you only see when you go looking for it.

Please take this pretty little M2 off my hands, and put it to work the way the camera gods intended.

Was this body CLA'd by Leica?  Appears to have the "L" seal.

I'm curious when that would have happened (when Leitz Canada was still with us?)

or the dealer is not remembering correctly and another body received the CLA.

A Leica-serviced Leica M2 would be a nice Leica to have...

For some reason I'm getting the dreaded "Image pending approval" notice when I click for the larger picture.
