Yesterday I visited a terrific concert of formerly to me unknown Baba Zula in Berlin. Not only the musicians, but also the dance and song performances were inspiring and great. In the end, the hall was raging.

To my taste, these guys and gals deserve support, so please enjoy :

Baba Zula: Abdul Canbaz

I have no Idea who that guy (Abdul Canbaz) is, so any input is highly appreciated. The sound is very cool and layed back to my ears.

I also like this one very much:

The appearance of the spirit of the moog is spectacular.

The life performance was of course quite different from the recordings, improvisation, open, letting things happen, interacting with the audience...beautiful and strong!

Enjoy the RFF Istanbul meetup!

To me, this one sounds a bit like "Hello neighbor."

They are very good - didn't know they're touring. Thanks for the head up. I first came across them in Fatih Akin's movie about music in Istanbul. The street band Siya Siyabend is also very cool.

Ok, the jour fixe thought has been floating around my head, time to get it out.

I would say, Sundays, 11 a.m. at Hackescher Hof.

It does not necessarily mean that anyone is there, but if you are around and feel like meeting with some RFFer or other photography related folks, just drop in and look out for anyone with a rangefinder camera.

Otherwise, good coffee and breakfast.

I would really like to join you, but I'm only free from early afternoon on. Are you going to take a photo walk after breakfast? If yes, maybe I could join you then?

Hey Klara, the general idea behind the jour fixe is just to have a fixed time and date for anyone here in Berlin interested in meeting up, so there is no fixed plan.

Check your PM.

Hey!

I'm in Berlin from October 20th to 27th.

Not traveling light: I'm bringing the wife and three (!) teenagers. But also a Leica M and lenses, and hoping to stock up on Tri-X this time!

Also hoping to run into these guys again, on some yet-unknown S-Bahn station...

Hello to all Berliners! :)
I plan to be in Berlin round about 7-17/12.
I have a few days taken with a conference 10-12, but intend to discover the city on the other days. three bodies (mine included), two three lenses, and as much Tri-x as I can.
I would love to meet some of you there to shoot, eat, drink and freeze together in what will sure be a great, enjoyable, thermal shock with lots of pictures.
In the meantime, any hotel suggestion in the surrounding of the Kurfürstendamm Boulevard, the government quarter and Potsdamer Platz will be more than "wilkomen".

Michael, I'm here now, met Lem and Gho and will likely meet Simon.

Loving every minute of it again! Sad to see Saturday approaching, when we will return home.

I'm sure you'll love the place. Just forget about the touristy stuff or if you go there, make sure to walk as much as you can, camera in hand and a pocket full of film.

I went to the Leica shop off the Kurfurstendamm today and saw some gear in real life that I only know from online shots. Particularly loved a nickel Elmar 3.5/35mm and a short Tele-Elmarit 2.8/90mm but kept the lid on my wallet so the measly few bucks would not escape:p Instead, I bought three rolls of Tri-x :)

great news, michael. looking forward to meeting you. I should be here, but probably a little swamped in studies and preparations for my exhibition in january.

Thanks guys! :)
Lem, Simon, I'm looking forward to meeting you and shooting with you.
Johan, I'm sorry I'll be missing you by so little. It'll be my first time there, so some of the touristic obligations will have to be fulfilled, but I do intend to go off track as much as I can. (and I'll keep an eye on my wallet when getting close to a good camera shop ;))
