I've long wanted to use my 35-70mm with the Techart autofocus G adaptor (works phenomenally with my 28, 35, 45, and 90mm when used on an A7III!), but it looks like the only reason why it won't work is because the rear collar collides with the electronics in the Techart adaptor. It works well as a manual lens on the A7III with my non-autofocus adaptor.
Looking more closely at the collar, it seems like it serves no mechanical or optical purpose, and I suspect it exists primarily to prevent it from being mounted to incompatible G1 bodies. I always thought I would need to grind down the collar, but I noticed it looks like its held in by just 4 small screws that don't appear to affect any other components.
Can anyone verify this? Can I simply remove the rear collar by removing those 4 screws without impacting anything else about the lens functionality?
