Just received a 1967 Horizont that was said to be serviced. Tried a roll of film today and ended up stripping the sprockets about 8 or 9 shots into the roll and then the film tore trying to rewind it. Not an awesome start. I removed the film in a changing bag and processed it to see what I got.

Film is scratched but this is bulk loaded Orwo UN54 so that might be from my cassette or it could be the camera. Will check the film path carefully to see if there is anything there that might have scratch it.

I'm also getting either banding or light leaks. I *think* they are light leaks as they seem to be more common when the front of the camera was facing the sun but wanted to get everyones thoughts on this.

Probably the best shot from the roll. Would have been one of the last shots before the sprockets tore. Camera came out of a bag, took the shot and then went back into the bag.

Pretty sure my finger was touching the shutter dial when I took this one.

Any thoughts? The turret seems to move smoothly so I am thinking the light seals on the sides of the turret may be bad.

These were all at 1/100 of a second and either F16 or a few stops more open when in shadow.

On a related note... any recommendations for a B&W film that seems to have a thicker base to try and prevent breaking?

Thanks,

Shawn
