New 2018 Voigtlander 50/1.2 Nokton Leica M Aspherical

Available NOW

modern sharp multi coated ASPH lens with the look and sharpness of the very popular Voigtlander 40mm f/1.2 !
I think this new Voigtlander lens will become very popular as one of the very best super fast 50mm Leica M lenses
50mm f/1.2 Nokton M Aspherical prototype shown mounted on Leica M-P
I've talked with the 50/1.2 lens designers, the same guys who designed the extremely popular 40/1.2 FE lens.
They told me the 50/1.2 M mount has the same look and IQ of the 40/1.2

Very high Image Quality with four aspherical lens surfaces and one high index element

This lens has astounding bokeh

f/1.2 to f/22
12 blade aperture for smooth beautiful bokeh
8 elements in six groups
4 aspherical lens surfaces
1 high index glass element
Rangefinder coupled to .7 meter
Weight 344 grams
Size 63.3mm x 49mm
Filter size 52mm
Bayonet mount new larger LH-10 vented lens hood or LH-8
Adaptable to any digital mirrorless camera via the proper adapter
Close focus on Sony Alpha bodies 41.7 cm with Voigtlander M to FE close up adapter

That looks like a very handy fast lens weight wise, about 90 grams lighter than the hefty f 1.1 50mm CV lens.

I tried the f1.1 lens and its weight swayed my decision not to buy it.

An f/1.2 lens is larger. Btw, my Summilux 50mm f/1.4 v1 weights 323g.

Erik.

Erik,

Not sure what point you are attempting to make,
but you are wrong if are trying to imply Cosina listed an incorrect weight.

I have handled the lens. It is substantially smaller and lighter weight than the 50/1.1

I'm sorry, I was not clear enough. I find it indeed remarkable (and positive) that a fast lens like this is so light weight, indeed about 100g lighter than the f/1.1. That is what I ment to say.

Erik.

Erik.

I remember reading it in Puts book about lenses. In ultrafast primes every 0.1 requires a lot.

the 50/1.2 is surprisingly light and compact compared to other fast 50's
