I am sure it is fantastic with mf lenses, but having F6 would be so tempting to try that super fast AF. And that means more lenses. And more and more...
A used 50 1.8 G is only about $120. Works GREAT with it...

I guess you know the any new lenses with electronically controlled aperture can only be used wide open. not a problem usually with tele lenses, as this often is the most relevant look. Mind you, there is a 28/1.4E as well. Not to confuse with old manual focus Series E lenses from the late 70ies/80ies.

Yep, even a bunch of the newer Sigma Art lenses use the E aperture so cannot be used with the F6.
Of note, many of these lenses remain stopped down, not wide open, before they are used. So cannot be used unless you are fine shooting at f16/22 all the time.

Now looking at picking one up semi locally. Serial is xx21xxx, and was bought new back in ’05 by the seller. The deal is not done yet, but will soon hopefully. Seem like the most idiot thing to do right now though considering the global situation.

Enjoy your new toys, guys!
There's a very nice F6 that has come up for sale on UK Ebay. For UK buyers only, unless the seller can be persuaded otherwise. I have no connection with the seller.

**Attention** All you Nikon F6 owners. If your camera is a later production, there has been a recall of certain serial numbers. See this post from Nikon Rumors.

I own 0036141. I purchased it at Gray's of Westminster back in July 2020. Shortly after purchase, I sent it off for the recall service (which irritatingly took Nikon nearly 6 weeks to complete).
Curious if the cost of the recall might have been the final nail. Were any F6s manufactured after 0036191?

I just purchased SN 0026365 on eBay. After a long time shooting my ancient but trusty F, I decided to make the jump and go with an F6.

I have 0026918 Purchased new in January 2013 in BC Canada.Post your serial numbers folks. Lets see if we can get an idea of how many Nikon F6s are out there!
I've seen serial numbers as high as 0036xxx which would indicate only about 36,000 units have been manufactured. Not many for a 10 year production run, but also unsurprising for a film camera in the digital age.
Mine is 0012429
It has only four rolls through it and it’s pristine. Must have been made 2012 or earlier. I had an F4 and new D800 and wasn’t even looking but the camera store, a long established one now gone, was at war with Nikon and blew their F6 stock out for let’s just say the highest 3 figure number and ninety-nine pennies. I think below cost. So, I got their last one. I have the winder and found 8 lithium AAs really helped focus the Sigma Art quicker and shoot at the max fps. It is a splendid camera that feels wonderful in the hand
