I came across this web site (https://photoseed.com/) and blog (https://photoseed.com/blog/) while searching on "unknown B&W photographers" and was surprised to find some very interesting photographic records and information on early photographic processes - especially Japan-tissue photogravure:

“Central Park” (Bethesda Terrace Steps): unknown American photographer. Vintage Japan-tissue photogravure: ca. 1885-1888: printed ca. 1897-1900: Photogravure and Color Co. (New York): 11.2 x 16.5 | 14.7 x 19.3 cm | supports: 19.8 x 25.3 | 22.2 x 29.1 cm

I like the academic and scholarly approach to the various photographs. Very interesting web site.

PhotoSeed, having received honors in the press including a prestigious Webby award since our launch in July, 2011, represents an evolving online record of this early fine-art photography movement. But most importantly, we are a private archive with simple goals, namely: beauty, truth, scholarship and enjoyment for all who visit. A rich collection of photographs representing numerous vintage processes will be found here. From delicate platinum to exquisite hand-pulled photogravures, images produced singularly or published in portfolios and journals, as well as vintage source material, this resource will reward the intrepid or curious.
