I did not scope out all the pics in this thread but here are three pics from the Pixii website of my birthday present to me. Not yet here! Ordered on April 4th. If they could keep the two week window that would mean I will be burning up the pixels on the 18th! Oh, please, please, please. SVP, SVP, SVP.
Yes, mine is "basic black." I guess I will have to buy it some pearls. LMAO Hey, Pearl, the perfect nickname for it. But, a French camera would be Perle, mais oui. The perfect name for the gaminesque Pixii. Une belle gamine francaise.
And all you RAW/DNG fanatics out there, please note that this factory Pixii is shooting JPG's. ;o)

Mine, like all my other cameras, will be set to raw capture within minutes after arriving, never to be set to JPEG again. That way my workflow is the same for all my cameras.
I went for black with 64Mbyte storage. That's about 1200 raw exposures to capacity, which is about what I need for most of my two-three week trips. I ordered mine on 15 March. Presuming that UPS decides to actually deliver it on Monday (it's still marked as being in their facility in Kentucky), that will make the total time between order and receiving it four weeks.
I also purchased a 512Gbyte dual-connector thumb drive so I can off-load everything in the camera's storage up to about 8 full loads when away from computer or on travel. That's so cheap nowadays ($52 delivered) I was tempted to go for a 1T drive @ $102, but didn't really think it necessary.

This sub-forum is beginning to feel like the moments before a race starts. You, maybe some others, and I are all close to having our Pixiis. I bought my Sony A7M III new with a new 24 -240 with it but was not as buzzed as I am for this "body only" delight. G, good luck with yours and lots of snapping, other folks likewise. And the same for myself, too.
I am really looking forward to seeing more photos from the Pixii. Ranger9's have what appears to be very good color. MB's photos on his preview post for the Pixii are also stunning. I know we can build profiles in our photo editors of choice which could have the same effect as the in-house tuning of Barth et cie but having it sweet SOOC is kind of nice. The Pixii has raised my level of interest in photography higher than it has been in a long, long while and that in itself makes the price worthwhile. The Leicas are nice and there is some pride, maybe arrogance, in ownership of that red dot. The Pixii will not be announcing Überkamera everywhere it goes. I appreciate the more discrete, low key image. As always, YMMV.

I just went back a page here out of curiosity and saw the little beast (the subject of this thread). my thought-
Such cold hard surfaces, I feel it needs a soft squishy-grip. If I were to design and produce such a thing I'd call it: PXii-my Softsquishy available in Chartreuse or Turquoise by special order. I would be sure that filled with liquid, it came with guaranty it would never squirt the photographer, or her subject!

Hmm. I think if I wanted to view porn, I'd hardly be likely to turn to a camera equipment forum ... There are so many, many more accessible venues to choose from. ];-)
Considering that the Leica M8 sold for $5500 when new and didn't have anywhere near as good a sensor as the Pixii does, presuming that the build quality is probably quite similar for most of the camera with better electronics and possibly a slightly less competent viewfinder, $3000 hardly seems out of line to me.
But that's my opinion. I've already made my decision on capability/cost and just wish mine would be delivered from the hands of the Evil Brown Lords: UPS.

I think we here on RFF have used that term 'porn' at least as long as I have been here (2008) and probably longer.
I see at as being used with a more playful endearing tone...
alluding to the cameras shape, the look of chrome or black paint and a tres sexy piece of glass/lens attached

I am not going to lie, I don't like the existence of this thread in this forum.
It might be more playful use of the word but at the end of the day it goes to the core of the problem. Desire for objects.
The gear-headiness the last few days from certain people here is ruining it for me. I don't know if the biased representation of sexes is the cause or the result for this. Maybe a bit of both.
I am sure you have more important things but I do miss your input to this site.

I'm getting pretty tired of the pettiness about a new camera that I see in these threads. I thought this was a Rangefinder Forum, where people might actually enjoy the notion that a new startup company is producing a new rangefinder camera. But it seems that any time anyone here says anything about a new rangefinder camera, be it from Leica or anyone else, it has to be ridiculed and said to be junk before any of such pundits have ever seen or touched one in the flesh.
I look forward to exploring my new camera, making photographs with it. Whatever warts it has, eh? what camera yet has been perfect?

I am over the top about getting a Pixii. I see no reason to apologize for how I feel about something so long as it passes the Oscar Wilde test. You know, Illegal, Immoral or Fattening. It is not one of those three. I am just thrilled about getting the camera. I cheer Pixii's effort and salute their success.
As with my other tools, it far exceeds my skill level. So what? I am in an army of peers on this issue. And as for "porn" IIRC it is from ancient Greek and refers to the writings of prostitutes. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pornography#History) Well, I am a bit tarty about the Pixii. But I am in Nevada where that is legal. ;o)

That is for a different word...
The root is from the greek word "πέρνημι" which means traveling to sell and that περ-/per- is also the root for other words such as port. The word in english comes from the greek word "πορνη" which means the woman that has been sold as a slave. So not a great title for a thread.

Well, I may have to defer here. I was deemed as not bright enough for Ancient Greek and was dosed with Cicero and Caesar instead. However I do have the memory that the reference is to prostitutes and prostitution. There is none that would point toward injury or slight. It is a light-hearted reference to another form of self-indulgence, expensive toys.
