S3 2000 & S3 2002 Serial Number Registry

209384 from ebay. The lens with the body is 207569 ( I already added the number in the lens serial number registry ). I couldn't pull the number off the camera that is with the other lens number.

I don't see any 200xxx numbers other than the one in the picture!
I see five 201xxx samples!!
Are you suggesting the production started @ 201xxx?

Just out of curiosity, why is it important to keep a registry such as this?
For me, there isn't any great importance to contributing to and keeping a camera registry. It's just part of the gathering of bits of information on a camera along with little details regarding the history of the design, or the provenance of the camera itself. I suppose that it is similar to joining an American Motors Gremlin owners club when you get a Gremlin. I don't think many people collect Nikon Millenium S3's but it's nice to join others who own and love them.

That said, I find myself often looking at people who collect things and ask "Why would you do that?" IMO there are no profoundly compelling reasons (though perhaps there are many uncompelling reasons) beyond simply "They like to do that".
