For those who want to use vintage/antique strobes on your R-D1 or any modern, electronic camera, I recommend this product:

The R-D1(s)(x) safe voltage limit falls within 24v international standard. The Wein Safe-Sync can transform voltages up from to 400 down to well below the safe limit for the R-D1.

Should the flash be compact when transported or also when used? I ask because flashes are a bit like tripods, in the sense that usually small and good do not go together. LED panels are increasingly being used also professionally and they are flat, not small but easy to carry around, plus the fact that they give continuous light means that, without triggers or anything, you can get the panel as close to the subject as you need (closer actually gives a softer light).

so i have an R-D1 and a nikon sb-24 i cant get the epson to fire the flash.. i can make my other cameras fire it but not the epson any tips?

Could be interesting, but I want to know if anyone else has tried them with an R-D1. Has anyone used the Lightpix Labs T1 or T1-s wireless triggers with their R-D1? They should be able to be triggered with any standard ISO hot shoe and any manual flash, but I want to be sure.
