I'm slightly on the fence with it, though thus far my usage has been in pretty junk situations (carrying other stuff, rushing to meetings, other distractions).

It does make the Fuji into a two-handed camera. Which is great, if you have two hands free.

Continuing to dig this lens. Wondering if the always-stopped-down behavior is on all cameras, or just older ones like mine?

The lens is manual in all respects with no linkages to open/close the aperture. So, yes, these type of lenses are always at shooting aperture.

dear Mike,

How do you use the zone focusing? The DOP range on the lense is not reliable.
do I miss Something?
thank you in advance

Hello, dda_visuals,

I'm not familiar with "DOP range on the lens". What does DOP stand for or is it a typo?

All the best,
Mike

I either need a longer arm or a wider lens

The depth of field is not accurate, but the focus distance is. I gather you have to pinpoint.

Having the same lens it's one of the two annoyances for me - the other being the slightly "beyond" infinity mark. Supposedly it's to "compensate for thermal expansion" or something like that, but hey why aren't Leica lenses having the same "feature" even with the new 60MP bodies (or maybe I've just missed the discussions on it)?

With its closest competitor, the TTartisan 23/1.4, I just loosen the three screws on the barrel which I then shift a bit. Perfect, trouble-free infinity focus just like you'd do with some old lenses (Pentax, in my case). Sometimes low tech and cheap aka. straightforward build is the preferred one. Haven't seen any heat or tolerance related issue so far. I highly suspect all the Voigtlander really need is an adjustment too to custom fit the body. Too bad that the Voigtlander's electric coupling, when combined with with the X-pro's OVF and the "focus pad" on the bottom right, offer a unique experience which I really like.
