I have a J-8 with really nice glass that I would like to disassemble for a proper lubrication. The problem is that I cannot get the optical fixture out of the lens mount. From what I understand, I should be able to spin the optical fixture outta the lens mount in a counter-clockwise fashion, similar to a J-3. I tried injecting a bit of lighter fluid to loosen things up, nothing doing. Lens is still stuck, and now stinks to boot. Are there some screws in the barrel that I need to remove? Any suggestions?

I've seen a number like this one. Some are glued in, some- the grease gets as bad as glue.
With the J-8: you cannot get the glass out of the barrel when it is stuck in the focus mount.

Try disassembling the focus mount, try to get down to the inner helical that the barrel screws in to. That way- you are less likely to break the guide pin when using a lot of force. The name ring is held in place by two set screws, but the aperture ring hides them.
