I happened across this while Web browsing. This is an AP article scanned from an Australian news paper published in 1947. The article describes the formation of the Kardon Camera Company, with lots of quotes and inside information from the founder Peter Kardon, who apparently was interviewed for the article. More seems to be known about Kardon than some other small scale Leica copy builders, but any such information such as this has historical significance to camera collectors (and it's fun to read).

That's fantastic. Presumably direct off the wire, and it reads like a press release. Rockhampton was a town of only regional importance, it's hard to imagine many (any?) Kardon cameras sold there.

The advertisement that follows is very interesting, too.

Trove has a lot of major and regional newspapers (and other documents including photographs) from around Australia. Not all well organised and the OCR leaves a lot to be desired, but with patience it's amazing what you can locate.
