1st pictures from my "new" Olympus 35SP

Great work!

I agree with you completely on the choice of the Olympus.

My favorite format subject is environmental portraits, and camera favorites are:

(1) Fujica 6X9 + 100/3.5AE
(2) Olympus 35SP + 42/1.7

No coincidence that the Fujinon 100/3.5AE is equivalent to 40mm on 35mm cameras - quite close to the Olympus 35SP angle of view.

Only other frequently used equipment for the task, with bokeh effects:
(1) Rittreck/Warner/Norita 66 + 80/2
(2) Fujica 6X9 + 100/3.5AE + Auto Up

So, I'm not the Lone Ranger in my thinking!

I never, ever shoot black and white, however. Never figured out why anyone would - just my personal preference.

Tacos are $1.25, everything else is $6. The tacos are two soft corn tortillas with your choice of meat.

Cool. All the 'gourmet' food trucks up on Wilshire want $10 for 2 tiny tacos

(did I mention they are 'gourmet'?) LOL

Wow! amazing pictures!, you just made me feel jealous, I just got back from the lab my first roll taken with the 35 SP, and the colors looked washed out, really dull, this is my first rangefinder and I don't know if the camera is not working properly or is the film I used or maybe is somethin I did wrong :(

Hi,

Welcome aboard.

First thing to do is check you set the film speed correctly. Also these days the correct battery should be a Wein cell as mercury ones are no longer available. Also, did you take any using the manual settings and a handheld meter to check the camera against? It's worth trying next time there's a film in it.

Anyway, I'll wish you luck.

Rgards, David

Thanks for sharing! I picked up my first RF last month, a 35sp. I really enjoy shooting with it. My first roll, some very old expired stock just to test it was working wasn't great. Mostly my fault though I think, plus expired stock which was compromised and had a leak. I'm currently putting a roll of tri-x through it. Could you offer any tips? I'm using a zinc air cell.

Hi, thanks for your answer David, I realized I bought a couple of expired rolls and I read that you should use a low ASA for this kind of roll, so I loaded a new one and will use 100 instead of 200, My camera doesn't have a battery, is hard to find in my country, so I don't have a light meter, could this be the problem with my colors? overexposition? , I'll try this new roll and see what happens

I used hearing aid batteries with a rubber washer.

Hi,

I can't help with expired film but there's many who can reading this.

As for checking the exposure, because of the hearing aid or other battery, why not find a willing friend with a digital camera and then compare the exposure suggested? The digital can probably be set to the same ISO and the zoom adjusted to give the same view in front of you.

Once you've compared you can adjust using the meter setting for the film speed.

Regards, David

He has now repainted it a very dark metallic purple and has the car for sale for an unspecified price.
