By the way, I scan my slides and negatives at 1200ppi with 5000F scanner, also a flatbed. After careful application of UnSharp Mask, I would say the scanner does a good job. Smallest details aren't crisp but these details I'm talking about is normally seen only by projecting the slide 1.5m x 1.0m (5ft x 3.33ft) and observe the projection from 1m (3.33 ft) away.
