sorry, i was tired when i wrote the above…

i have a 62 on the 56…works fine.
on the 23 i use a 62>67 step up ring, the bigger hood does not vignette.

Do either need it for flare or is the shade mostly for protection.
Thanks!

BTW... Loving the 60 as i used it last night with awesome results... Thanks again!

i have used both lenses without shades with no ill effect.
i just feel 'safer' with a nice metal hood on the end of a lens.

that 60 is a great lens…i miss the close focus ability i have to admit.
i may try to trade my new tripod for another one (or maybe an 8mm again)...

In the end I did not resist, or rather could not resist, a X pro 1 in now on order heading towards my family home

My wife and I just spent 3 days at Geto Onsen, a hot spring resort in Iwate Prefecture. Firstly, the hot spring experience there was amazing! Secondly, the Inn that we stayed at was really in the middle of nowhere. No TV, no internet, the room was just a box. Common restroom outside the room for all on our floor, a common sink area for brushing teeth and that sort of thing. One refrigerator on the floor to be shared by everyone; very minimalistic, a chance to talk at length with anyone who will listen. At one point I started taking pictures of my cameras (while enjoying something to drink)…

Don't tell me I got nothing better to do
