The meter works, Led lighting up. The battery are news. When I press the shutter release button nothing happens.

have you tried a re-set by taking the batteries out for a few minutes?
can it be on a long exposure?

Thank you. Yes I did. I even changed the batteries. What is strange is that the Led used to go up and down before stabilizing on the good value and now, the sutter release button does not work but the Leds are sharp and not blinking anymore ?????have you tried a re-set by taking the batteries out for a few minutes?

Does the CLE have the same issues with dead capacitors for the shutter that the X-700 has? After all the two share much of the same circuitry, including the TTL exposure electronics.

Hi, last weekend i went at the beach, and my cle dindn´t release!, the leads showed some play like yours, after coming back to a much dryer environment it worked again (we´re in summer here), perhaps some humidity affecting circuitry.
Good luck!

And when you tried this did the self timer LED flash through its cycle and then just not fire at the end or did it not flash at all?

Open the back of your CLE (make sure no film in camera ofcourse) and also remove the lens. Turn the camera ON and GENTLY try to move the shutter curtain with thumb and pointing finger in one way or the other. Perhaps this can release the shutter mechanism.
This has happened to me twice and the method described above has solved the problem.

Yes mine too few months back!
Only thing now with it that the self timer setting only works intermittently, especially outside (where it is -5 Celsius currently) it fires the shutter in a regular manner (not self-timing). I wonder if a simple cleaning would do the trick if I take it apart...
