Hi!

I would like to shoot the milky way in South Florida (Miami, Fort Lauderdale)!

The question: Where should I go so am away from light pollution and I can take a picture of the milky way and the stars?

I have checked darksite finder.

Also people recommend the everglades off of 75 The problem is that it is still not too dark, and with the level of humidity normally present refracted light.

Others recommended Florida keys.

Do you know a location you can recommend? I don't have time and $ to go to Arizona! LOL

Thanks a lot!!!

You can do the Glades - but it's hot and muggy this time of year with lots of bugs. Rather than Interstate 75 - head out on US 41, the old Tamiami Trail. Try either the Monument Lake or Midway Campgrounds.

Personally, at this time of year I'd head down towards the Keys - maybe at Long Key State Park.

For people photography - definitely do a walk about on Oceanside Dr in the Art Deco district around 7th St and Oceanside on the Southern tip of Miami Beach. You'll be surrounded by folks that may have never heard of the Milky Way, if they're locals.

Best Regards,

I remember how black the sky was when on a cruise once heading back from Cancun to Galveston. Just as far away from city lights as you can and hope for low relative humidity. Either that or plan a trip out to Big Bend in West Texas. You can see to walk by the stars alone with no moon in the sky.
