Give us a sample picture from your Yashica

I've had my GS for over a year now...CLA'ed by Mark Hama...and (OK, I'm ashamed to admit it), never used it. Until today. Wow! The Yashinon lens is tack sharp, and the metering system on the camera seems to be spot on. The photos below are all BW400CN. I can see that I'm going to be spending some time with this camera. Anyone know where I can find a good deal on a CC?

Cheers...

Rem

Hey Rem,

I have a question for you:

did you use any PS like post filter on your pics? You have two different color casts (presumably using same film?) on your beautifully shot pictures.

BTW, I have the same Electro 35 GS CLA'ed by Marc Hama about a year ago. I was about to load my Kodak BW400CN into GS to see how it's going to work together as combo.

Please, up-load some more pics and all the best!!

p.s.: same Kodak BW400CN film, but shot w/Yashica FRII and Contax CZ Tessar 45mm Jahre, CLA'ed by Mark of course:

I'm sorry, I should have made that clear. The picture of my little niece Claire is a straight grayscale image. The other two I platinum toned in PS.

Good luck with the GS/BW400CN combo. I think you'll like it. I'll be uploading some more photos using that combo shortly.

Cheers...

I took this today with my GS and, again, BW400CN. This is from a Costco scan. I've been playing tug-o-war in my mind lately with the dreaded digital vs film thing, and the truth I find is that I suffer from the affliction of pixel peeping. There is no question that under most circumstances I am able to get a cleaner output from Nikon DSLR, but I can't seem to let go my old rangefinders. Such a quiet joy to use compared to my digital clunker. The results aren't in. More will be revealed.

Cheers...

I got a Yashica Professional. I just want to show the results. I love it!

Inspired by this forum I recently bought a Electro GSN off Ebay for $20. Put a new lightseal and battery in. Loaded my first roll of film in a years time (after a brief encounter with a Leica M4 that I quickly sold...). And went to town. This camera is fun to use due to its low price tag and automatic exposure.

Hey Rogier, this is really nice! What film did you use and how did you process your film?

Thanks in advance!

I have 0% experience shooting b&w film on my Electro 35 GS. Any recommendations on type of b&w film, processing and scanning specifically for this camera/model? Your pic looks very-very nice as well.

Arthur, I have an Electro 35 G and it is just a wonderful tool with all the films I've tried it with: color and b&w. What can I say. This camera is really unbelievable. If you want to try your hand with b&w processing my recommendation is to start with the grand old daddy Kodak Tri-X 400 and Kodak D-76 developer. The www.digitaltruth.com/devchart.php will tell you the details. Any flatbed scanner will do, I'm using a Canon 8800f.

Thanks Mablo! I'm die-hard color-photo guy, but I guess I'm open to try my Electro 35 GS with b@w film now.

Will report soon what comes out of it,

all the best!

I had always heard the Yashica GX could meter remarkably well no matter what. I decided to test the theory with some backlit subjects. I must say, I am impressed:
