California (Bay Area, Northern) Bay Area Beer & Gear?

I'm sure Kent will be happy to regale you with the tale of my defective gender sensor from the last trip to the MOMA ... :-/

Kent, I just don't want to know... :)

See you guys tomorrow, weather permitting (but it looks like the weather won't be too bad).

Taking a rain check.

Guys, it's raining and windy up here in Sacramento. I just checked KRON weather, and the forecast for SF is for rain w/ t-storms throughout the morning, w/ showers and pockets of t-storms in the afternoon. It doesn't look like the weather is going to improve until late afternoon. So, reluctantly, I'm going to bow out, and wish the rest of you well!

I just took a look out and it's very wet here in San Mateo. Checked the weather.com site and it says 70% chance of rain till noon, 60% after. 86% humidity in SF right now. Not looking too good.

Anyone in SF up and about for a weather check?

Kev- I've almost maxed out the mileage on the gender incident. I think my preoccupation with it is due to the fact that I missed an incredible photo op and I was only standing 3 feet away!

Hi Kent -- Since it takes me about 2 hours to get to SF on a day like this, I've had to pull the plug, but it does sound like it's going to be soggy.

Steve- Totally understandable. I may be doing the same unless things pick up here. I'm not too big on using the RFers in the rain, that's for my Nikons to handle :)

Catch you next time!

Kent

Looks like the worst will soon pass then it will gradually clear up - clear by 12.

Well, I don't have any other plans, but it's really coming down in Alameda. I'll see you guys at 10! Maybe it'll clear up by then. :/

Not raining right now and I'm in the Richmond District close enough to Crissy. Sky look a little ominous but could be worse. I'd expect rain eventually. Keep dry out there and have fun as I can't make it.

Hahaha! That was most memorable.

I just came down from the city. I was in the Pac Heights area. It wasn't too bad, light showers mostly, no downpours or anything consistent. You all have fun. I might squeeze in some shooting time in downtown on my way out to the east bay.

You guys missed great photo weather!

You guys missed great photo weather!

It was a great day for camera work at Chrissy Field this morning! Sorry some of you missed it. It was a nice get-together at the Warming Hut. Kent, Kevin, Donald (don't know his RFF name) and I met up there and talked 'a bit of gear'.

I had to be back in Oakland by noon, so I went out early. It was a GREAT early morning at Fort Point. Big beautiful waves, good cloud cover, and no wind! :) Burned up 3 rolls of film and headed home. I'll post some in a couple of days.

Nice to meet you Kevin and Donald. And Kent... as always... thanks for sharing the gear stories. :p
Jamie

Guys -- Sorry I missed it. It sounds like you got lucky w/ the weather. When I checked this morning at 7 it sounded like it would be pretty miserable. I'll try to get to the next meet-up, and still want to get out to Crissy Field ...

We did luck out with the weather, who would have guessed it! Fun day, great to see some familiar faces and meet some new participants as well!

There's a "ouch" gear story to be told but I'll leave that for others to describe. Loved using my Contax G2 with the 35-70mm zoom. Such a fun camera to use!

I'll pop up some pics later tonight :)

Thanks again to everyone for making it a relaxing day!

I would like to give thanks to everyone who came out today! I am very greatful to the brave few who made my 29th a memorable occasion. Hopefully I'll have a few photos worth posting. The weather totally cleared up and we had a fantastic time. I'm still planning on grabbing a few beers at the Trappist in Oakland. If you're in the area, stop by!

sorry i missed the shoot and Kevin's b-day. my brain wouldn't shut off last night so i ended out staying up most of the night writing (gotta do the typing when the inspiration hits). alarm went off at 7am, but there was no way -- i was 99% comatose and stayed in bed until well after noon. can't wait to see the photos, but what's the gear tragedy Kent alluded to? (If it's too painful, forget I asked.)

Below is a link to a couple of pics from the G2 today. Noritsu drug store scan so don't expect miracles. Tinkered with a bit in Silver Efex.

I must say the prints are really something else from today, I was very pleased. I'll do a little Coolscanning on Monday so you can see how tack sharp that 35-70mm is on the G2.
