Tri-X, which has been selling for $3.99 for ages at B&H, is now listed at $4.50 (135/36 exp). You can still purchase it at $3.99 a roll, but this is a discounted price while supplies last. I just stocked up.

Tha last time i have spent $4 for a roll of tri-x in Italy was the 2006...saddly at the moment the less expensive price for that film is €4,20 ($5,50) so maybe they are adjusting the price with the rest of the world.
Is there a place in Europe where the Tri-x is not so expensive? (not rebranded of course)

Just from reading some old magazines, film is still cheap compared to inflation adjusted prices from the 60's and 70's.

Adorama still has tri-x at 3.99.

I remember reading years ago (maybe 15 years) that Kodak was one of very few Top 100 companies in the USA which paid the expected amount of tax. Most of the others had made special arrangements to greatly minimize tax. Maybe the moral of the story is to wriggle out of tax?

Is Arista Premium 400 truly rebranded Tri-X? I'm surprised Kodak would licence their best-selling product to a third party.

Yes, absolutely. Sensitometry of exposed film and chemical analysis of the emulsion have shown that it is Tri-X.

It seems likely that Kodak got caught with an over supply of this product that was going to go out of date before they could sell it, so Freestyle bought it all and sold it at a discount. Better to get something for it than nothing.

I just ordered 10 rolls of Arista Premium 400 last week. Looks like I'll be going in for 10 more. It's become my favorite B&W film, so I figure I'd better stock up wile the going is good.

Here in France, I've been told everywhere I've been able to ask that all (their) Kodak film will go up about 10% next month.

I just ordered from macodirect.de under 4€ a roll, not a huge difference but anyway.

Ya.. stocked up last month - spent over $450 in film for myself - I'm done for the year :)

If that's the case, I might stock up on Tri-X, and if Arista Premium is really Tri-X rebranded (which it sounds like it is) I'll order a bunch of those as well and wait till I go to see family in States to pick them up.

Same in Kuala Lumpur. I'm not sure about other parts of Malaysia, but we've been told Kodak film prices will be going up by about 20% soon. We had a price increase in January, too.

I just checked the B&H price. Man, that is cheap film! In Malaysia the price of Tri-X is already US$5 per roll of 36. And now here's come the hike. Ouch.

As the use of film decreases, less companies will make it and prices will go up. I suppose we will have to get use to it. At least we can still get film, that's the most important to me.

At the dealer i trust (fotofachversand.com) you get one roll for Euro 3,90, if you take ten rolls u get 'em for Euro 3,70 each.
Greetings: Dieter
