Ne firmware 1.11

I just got an X-Pro two days ago. I was getting used to it and figuring out how to make AF acceptable and everything was going pretty well. Then I had to go and screw it up! The camera and lenses (18 and 35) were at V 1.01 and I updated the body to 1.11 in anticipation of getting an M Mount adapter.

Now I see the following problems:

1 - I cannot get the full display of info in the OVF even though I have checked all the options in the setup Menu. It is limited to EV comp, Mode. SS Aperture no matter what I set. Maybe there is a setting I missed when I had to reenter the settings after the upgrade?

2 - THe lens chatters more than it did before! In fact I don't think it chattered at all before the update. At 1.01 I never noticed it, now when I am in S AF mode with the View Mode set to Eye Sensor it makes this noise when my eye is up to the OVF, it doesn't when I am using the LCD. I am sure this didn't happen before.

Any ideas on what might be going on? Maybe the new Firmware is not working properly? Hopefully this a newb setup problem...

Thanks

Have you added the lens firmware updates too? The lenses need to be updated while attached to the camera. Not only have there been updates for the camera but each lens has had updates too and you need to follow the instructions for each firmware update to have it installed correctly. I know it's a bit of song and dance but it works in the end. The only real frustration is with your settings. After each install, any changes made to the camera set up is reverted back to the factory settings so, if your going to update everything, then wait and finish before setting the camera up to the way you want it.

Thanks, but I think the latest lens version is 1.01 and there isn't a corresponding 1.11 update for the lenses. The update process reported that the lens was up to date ( or something like that). Hopefully I am wrong and there is an update for the lenses. Please let me know if that is the case!

After a fw update u still need to cycle thru the disp/back button to get the additional display info to show up if I remember correctly. The default is not to show the extra custom info.

Hope that helps

Thanks Gary! That is one problem down.

Now, does anyone see the behavior (or should I say "phenomenon"?) I describe when using the OVF? I am almost positive this was not happening prior to upgrading the body to V1.11.

Again, this is easily reproduced by simply triggering the sensor, by covering it with a finger; the lens will rack back an forth a little and make the rattling noise. This happens with both my 35mm and 18mm which are both at V1.01.

I assume this is the chattering people described with Firmware 1.0? This behavior also makes the camera take longer to lock AF - ONLY with the OVF,

Ok, I've got it now. The chattering when I switch to the OVF is caused by setting "Power Save Mode" to "ON". With that off, it goes back to pre-update, quieter and faster, behavior. This may have been the same in the previous release, I wouldn't know.
