One of my Plaubel Makiflex Automatics.

This one (purchased in Germany) with a Plaubel Flat (modern Peco Jr board) with Durst Enlarging Recessed Cone attached, so I can use my Rodenstock 120mm H5.8 barrel-mounted Imagon soft-focus lens, it fully focuses back to infinity with this setup. I also have the Rodenstock Imagon 150mm, they are interchangable on this board. And it is user-friendly and hand-holdable.

6x6, 6x9, 9x9, 9x12, and 4x5 are my choices. And Reflex Viewing, and Auto-Iris, kinda like a German version of the Auto Graflex.

There's something about the early black paint Asahi cameras that I find appealing, it's the combination of the rich deep luster of the paint they used & the clean lines of their early cameras design. I have noticed a degree of difference in luster on their black paint camera finish between the Asahi vs. Honeywell camera of the same model. The Honeywell black paint does not exhibit the same mirror like surface as its counterpart Asahi camera. Not sure why this would be but I have seen this in more than one sample that I have studied. Thanks for taking the time to photo document & post this well preserved example of what could be considered one of the building blocks for the modern SLR/DSLR camera.
Now, I will need to do a photo shoot & posting on the Pentax ES & ESII black paint cameras I am partial to...
 
Two great cameras from the late 60'S through the 70's. My 1st interchangeable lens camera was a Canon FTbn. I choose it over the Pentax ESII because of the breech mount lens design & "quick-load" film system featured on the of the FTbn. These 2 examples appear to be in rather good shape.

Nice Tom,

I just picked up an MC Rokkor PG 50mm f1.4 today. I've read that they are good lenses and I'm looking forwards to trying it out on an XM that my father in law passed to me for safe keeping. I must post a pic of the set up here soon...!

I can see why you decided to keep him & not send him back to where he came from.
Looks like you found a rather uncommon camera & not just because of its near mint condition. The XE-7 was another short production run Minolta, manufactured for just 3 years.
This camera is more like the SRT series in body build, a strong metal construction that can last a lifetime, which is another reason you rarely see them in the used camera market.
Congrats on your find & let me know if you ever want to get rid of him for soiling your carpet.

Rittreck 66. They sold the design to Norita, who made it only in black on brass. I love the look of old chrome cameras. I was suffering a bit with m43 lack of shallow depth of field (without getting right up against the subject) and though this would be good medicine. Also, I was tired of that "tiny, silent and unobtrusive" thing. This camera is big, loud and in your face.

The gordy strap gives it that playful, sultry look. The wrapped film suggests potential. I'm being facetious here, don't flame me.

OOOooooh.... Rare camera you have there. I almost snagged up a nice Norita for cheap but it sold before the day was over. I was hoping it was going to replace my Kiev 60.
