Breaking: Fujifilm X-E1 full press release

B&H in NY is now showing the XE1 available for pre-order at $999 USD. The two new lenses are still not priced nor in pre-order status.

I wonder how many people will be unloading their Xpros to get this?

Will there be a log jam of Xpros in the RFF classifieds?

So many questions yet to be answered! :)

If I get it, it will be to use with my XP 18/2 lens, leaving the X-Pro1 with the 35/1.4 mounted. Seems like it would be a great pair.

Adorama looks like more than just a pre order. I clicked on the zoom to purchase and it went straight to my cart, no mention of a pre-order delay.

Cool, are u going for it? I am going to hold off since I have all three lens plus the xp1.

My plan is to first get Xpro1, 35mm, zoom and 14mm. Then 56 as it becomes available. I wasn't expecting them to hit quite so quickly, so I need to mess around with some stocks first. I should be able to order in about a week, which by then they will probably be sold out and back ordered... ;-)

Plenty of time sine availability is in November.

Cut and past from the dpreview site.

Pricing and Availability

The FUJIFILM X-E1 (body only) will be available in November 2012 for $999.95.

The FUJIFILM X-E1 and XF18mm-55mm (27-84mm) F2.8-4 lens (kit) will be available in November for $1,399.95. The FUJINON XF14mm (21mm) F2.8 single focal length lens and XF18mm-55mm (27-84mm) F2.8-4 lens will be available in November for $899.95 and $699.95, respectively.

For FUJIFILM X-Pro1 and X-E1 customers
Please update the firmware of your camera body when using the XF18-55mm and XF14mm lenses for the first time.

The firmware will be supplied by SD card (bundled in 18-55mm and 14mm Lens Boxes) or can be downloaded from “Support” on the Fujifilm Global website.

Expect prices for the zoom to drop quickly as people by kits and then sell the zoom separately for part of the $300 markup ($699.95 vs. $400 with the kit).

Sweet! My OM-D is a rangefinder! I mean, if they can call this a RF then why can't I call my OM-D an RF?? :)

Seriously, I like it and like that it's cheaper but in the end there's only so many things you can remove from a camera without compromise...

Think digital "CL" kind of....

Think digital "CL" kind of....

When I was using Leica a lot, my favorite camera was the CL, the camera no one seemed to like much. I paired it with the 40f2 and the cv 21f4..

I was thinking when I saw the picture of the xe1 next to xp1, kind of looked like the CL standing neXt to the M6.. By end of next year Fuji is going to release the 28f2.8 pancake. When u combine that with the 14f2.8 I kind of have my favorite setup back. Of course w/o real RF...

Nononono, you misunderstand. :bang: If they're calling this a rangefinder, then your OMD is an SLR of course! :p

X100 prices

X100 prices

Actually I am interested what this will do to X100 prices.
The X100 is a very neat carry-around camera, but (for me) too expensive at the moment for what you get.

I, for one, will keep my X-Pro 1.

The September 18 firmware upgrade will update the camera AF firmware. The new lenses with quicker AF mothers will work on the XP1. So the AF performance of the to bodies will be similar. DPREVIEW has been beta testing the new firmware and they confirm a significant improvement. It is possible the XE AF will outperform the XP1 since it may have hardware improvements.

I use the OVF at least 2/3 of the time. I like the OVF. I want to keep using a camera with frame lines. I use the EVF whenever it is best suited or the job at hand. I understand the XE EVF is better than th XP1's. Unfortunately, I can not see outside the frame lines with the XE.

I actually prefer the X-Pro1 as well. I like the larger size, the OVF option, and the EVF is good enough for my needs.

I am excited with what fuji has offered us.

I still think the X100 is a great shooter. Simple fixed lens digital camera with a small body. ;)
