You must be mistaken, because if you are right, then the winning photo violated the rules, which clearly states that the image must have been taken in 2012.

I might be mistaken so I took down my original comment-- don't want to start any trouble. I was not aware of such parameters (or the competition in general). It's a fantastic photo and worthy of the win!
