I received my copy (black paint on brass version) last Friday, I was able to get out on Monday afternoon and start putting it to use. My initial impressions are really positive - it's extremely compact for an f2 lens, the focusing isn't quite as buttery smooth as my 28/2.8 elmarit ASPH, but besides that I'm quite pleased.

These were all taken with an MM246.

Hi, thanks for these images. Would you be able to post a shoulder/waist level portrait in colour at F2 with some busy background such as foliage? Thanks..

How do the images compare ti the Leica asph 2.8?

Not that much difference that I can tell - but I shoot at f11 and zone focus most of the time. Most lenses probably are about equivalent under those conditions. Overall seems really close for my needs, I do think the leica is probably a little punchier on the contrast.

For those asking for size comparisons, here’s my v1 elmarit ASPH vs the new Ultron. Obviously longer but really not that bad especially since you’re getting a full extra stop.

One other thing I’ve noticed is that I’ve been unable to get it to flare. Lots of sun and I’ve been deliberately trying to stress it out. Really great performance so far.

Just finished a roll of ilford Xp2 plus, cos it was in the camera. Just loaded up with Adox HR-50. The front element has a much smaller area than the Previous Ultron and Leica F2, so straight from the off less stray light hitting the front element so reduced flare (hopefully, like a ZM 35mm f2 8, Good flaire resistance).
It's small size is more like a f2.8 or f2.5 tops, rather than a full blown f2. Just thinking of a f1.4, smaller than Leica or 7A with great performance...

I just got a copy of this lens myself and though I haven’t seen any film results yet, I’m just so pleased with how the lens handles and the overall build quality. Can’t wait to process my film!

Haven’t finished a roll with it yet but the build quality is feel of this lens is miles ahead of what voigtlander used to be (color skopar days) and it’s even miles ahead of my Zeiss ZM lenses

perfect weight on the focus through and nice aperture clicks.
