Oh no!!

Sorry Joe I missed your post. I had written about the 'equal opportunities' in the UK providing a less than equal standpoint for many. The bias going against the grain. But that's talking in riddles, I daren't re-write what I had.

I've been offered a CL in DAG-cla'd condition with manual, strap, etc... for just about my current budget. After I purchase the LTM-M adapter I'll be tapped, but I'm not thinking about that right now :D

Am I going to be disappointed with the CL? Are the claims of poor focus with fast lenses going to be a problem with a Canon 50/1.8 ltm or a Summicron 50/2 coll LTM? Will I be able to collapse the Summi into the CL? It hardly collapses much.

Are there any problems I'll encounter using a LTM-M adapter?

Ash, you should just buy an M. That's obviously what you really want. Save up for a while if necessary, but I can't see the point buying something just because it's available, if it isn't exactly what you want.

I'd have to agree that you should save and get the M. That's not from any experience I have with any of these cameras, just from my extensive experience churning my gear.
You know what you want. Save your money a bit longer and get it.

The CL is a great little pocket camera. Lots of things going for it. Particularly one that's already had a CLA. And you should have no problem focusing a 50/2.0 or even 50/1.8 lens with it. However, as others point out, if you're really desirous of a Leica M, then I agree you should wait. Otherwise, you'll just be going through this drill again soon. Just my $.02 worth...

Ash

Leitz (in '74) indicated that you needed a dynotape section stuck on the barrel of collapsibles and indicated the thickness to cut the dyno tape to.

I forgotten the number for the cron.

I'll see if I can find it.

the little cl is a great camera but best as a second or back up camera, i think.

bite the bullet and save for an m2 or m3 and never need to worry again.

I think it's more that I'm gonna be biting the bullet and telling Paul the mob has spoken?

Damn, and to think I could have had the CL by the weekend maybe, probably monday or tuesday...

Well, if you want both and you can get the CL now and you think it's agood deal, then buy it and get the M-whatever later.

Hey Joe, how do you block users on here? :D

Frank, I think it's a GAS attack more than anything. Having read how short that baselength is, especially compared to a Contax, I can't really justify it, no matter how Chic it is!

I use the Canon 50 F1.5 with my CL, on a Leitz adapter. Works for me. I have no problem with the focus on either the 50/1.5 wide open for the Tele-Elmarit 90/2.8 wide-open.

It is a nice camera. The Canon lens will fit into the pouch case. The 50/1.8 is slightly bigger than the 50/1.5, but you will not have any trouble.

The hell with Patience. By them now, enjoy them as long as you can. I would have bought the M3 and M2 a long time ago if I knew they were so nice.

Have you seen both cameras? I'm coming to Bristol for a week from tomorrow; if you can get into town you can put a roll through my M6 and have a look at a knackered CL. I might even have a Rollei before I leave town...
