A little soft and the usual wide angle corners but lots of fun to just click away.

I'm really liking the little lens. Here is a quick self portrait and landscape shot that I took the other day:

p.s. the lens correction for the 16mm in Lightroom 3 does a pretty good job.

nice photos! It is a good lens, amazingly small and light. I've only used mine at 2.8 for snaps. Perhaps in the summer I will need to stop down a bit.

Here are three shots taken within a few moments of each other, with three different lenses, one being the 16mm.

OK now...don't read anymore---which is the 16? (maybe silly question), which is the sharpest?, which is the fastest? i,e, biggest aperture?

now, the 16 I find a funny little beast, it can be crisp, even wide open:

OK now it's prolly obvious the first shot up there is the 16 at 2.8. The faces, where my AF blinked are fine but not really crisp at all. However, here is a 100% on the cast:

So the AF has lied! The POF is on the cast, not the faces. I think this might explain some of the complaints about it. Maybe the continious AF kept going, I don't know, and it has to be more tricky wide open anyway.

But if you are shooting wide open you might try MF and see if you get sharper.

BTW

#2 nFD 24mm at f/2
#3 summilux 50mm at f/1.4

best to all, nice shots up there!

Yes. Agreed on the AF. Sometimes, I find it having difficulty to lock on focus. And although it looks focused at the right place, on the monitor it says otherwise.

When I got the NEX, I expected to mostly shoot it with my Voigtlander and Hexanon glass. But now that I've got the NEX for a while, I find I basically shoot with just the 16mm. It may not be ubersharp in the corners wide open, but when I shoot at f2.8 there rarely ever is something important at the edges.. Of course, for landscapes where the corners are important, I can always close the aperture down a bit.
