So I finally got this lens a few days ago, number 752/1000 from Matsuiya Store. It's pretty much everything I could want in a general purpose lens; small, well built, fast, sharp, and most importantly it creates lovely photographs.

I thought I'd post some shots from my first roll to show how happy I am with this little bad boy:

All take on the 35 hex UC on a Leica M6, neopan 400 dev'd in Xtol 1:1 (first time using this develper - its amazing!), scanned on Nikon Coolscan V.

I know the above are basically snaps but I just wanted to see what the lens is like... Can't wait to use it on some serious work!

I'm going to assume everyone who has this lens likes it alot? I sure do with mine!

Wow, I'm impressed. That's the look I'm after too. I've been searching for a 35 Summicron, but I may have to look for one of these, although it seems they are few and far between...

I sold my 35 summicron IV after getting one of these. The build quality is head and shoulders above the summicron. Just a great lens.

I'm convinced the price of these lenses is going to being moving upward in the near future. There are 1,000 of them in existence. Eventually the supply of new lenses (you can still get them new on ebay) is going to run out.

Jamie - happy to say "I told you so" - me among many others. I have been building a thesis in my mind "in praise of the snapshot" and yours are exactly what I think is best about the this kind of photograph. And the lens is the icing on the cake - painting the image with precision and perfect OOF.

Noriaki at Matsuiyastore on eBay seems to have bought many of these lenses when they were released. And no matter how much praise we heap on it here the price has stayed the same. I just checked his site to see if he is currently listing one of these babies and there is NOTHING! Except this message "We will be closing Matsuiyastore from 3/20/08 to 3/25/08 and we will list the new stock on 3/26/08(Japanese time),Thanks again and best regards, Noriaki."

Ahaha yes, well thanks is due to everyone who leaked the secret of this little lens! It's a bit of a steal compared to a new summicron if you ask me!

I recently sold my very first uncommisioned photograph. It came from the first roll of film I placed behind the Konica 35mm/2.0 UC-Hexanon. That works for me.

Enjoy your lens. It is in good hands.
