Got me a HP 5160 today, it has two slots for printheads one for a three color and the other for three photo colors, three greys or plain black.

Color printing on usual glossy paper with 6 colors is as one might expect from a 6 color inkjet, it's pretty good with the standard colors and black, even a B/W scan came pretty quite good on 110g/m² matte paper with the standard color and black inkset.

Then I tried the A100 grayscale head on 300g/m² matte paper.

WOW!

The first try with an uncalibrated printer with colormanagement turned off in ACDSee and on in the printer driver came out pretty impressive, without any hassle I got a print which is a bit warmer than Lysonic neutral Quadblack.

The printer costs 79 Euro, incl. 19% VAT, in germany, the A100 grey printhead another 25 Euro. From the "meter" in the printdriver, it looks as if I get some 20 8x12" prints from the cartridge, compared to Lysonic that's quite cheap.

So from my first impression, this cheap printer is nice for anybody who wants to print B/W up to some 8x12" in his lightroom.
